June is almost over, but it has been one for the record books! There is so much bait around this year the bass are literally stuffing themselves on squid and sand eels. I’m tired and the 2 AM alarm clocks are definitely starting to hurt already, but once that sun comes up and you see the first flock of birds on the radar from miles away, the exhaustion turns into exhilaration very quickly! The smiles have been endless this year!!!!

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a winter that turned Cape Cod into the Arctic Circle but here we are. The Winter blues have set in. You know it’s bad when a 30° day feels like a heat wave! but the days are getting longer, the sun is getting stronger, and in less than four months we will be fishing!!!

For most people September means chasing around Satan’s tuna, the fussy and picky false albacore. For me September means Tautog time! Nothing fights harder or tastes better than the lowly overlooked blackfish.
