We're pumped to introduce Zach Stivers as Rock Rev's new General Manager. He's been part of the Rock Rev team before, and we're thrilled to have him back in a bigger role. He brings real passion for building spaces where people connect, grow, and push themselves, which is exactly the energy this place runs on. When he's not here, you'll find Zach and his wife somewhere near the foot of the Shenandoah hiking and brewery hopping with their dogs.
Get to know him a little better through some Q&A below! ⬇️
Q: How long have you been climbing? How did you get into it? 🧗🏻
A: I climbed for three years at Florida State, took about 12 years off, and just started climbing again when Rock Revolution opened last fall. I’m hoping to reach my college peak again soon, but my body seems to have different plans. I originally fell in love with climbing because it was one of the only things I could do better than my brother, so naturally, I kept climbing because I wanted to keep it that way!
Q: Favorite kind of route? 🪨
A: Balance-y stuff on slab is always fun, despite having terrible balance, and anything with big lobster-claw style pinches.
Q: What's your go-to crag snack or post-climbing meal? 🥪
A: Aside from ABC cookies? If I’m feeling responsible, I’ll pack a turkey, Swiss, and mayo sandwich. If I’m being lazy, just a protein shake.
Q: What's a fun fact about you? 📖
A: I love sci-fi and fantasy books! So much so that I’ve written a couple of my own. I’ve published two full-length novels, have a third coming later this year, and two new manuscripts currently in the works.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work? 🐦⬛
A: Aside from writing and reading, my wife and I both love to bird. We are working on our lifer lists and have seen over 300 different species in the last three years.
Q: Favorite restaurant in Cville? 📍
A: Monsoon Siam and Maharaja!
Q: What are you most looking forward to about working at Rock Revolution? ⚡️
A: Meeting all the members I haven’t yet, and seeing everyone progress in their climbing skills. I’d love to see the sport continue to grow nationwide, and to be able to drive a small part of that growth here in C’ville will be awesome.
