The Sailing Association at UVA is a student-run club sport open to all UVa students of any skill level. We are an active group of sailors interested in racing, recreational sailing, and social events. We sail out of Lake Anna Yacht Club where we keep a fleet of nine Collegiate FJs and one Hobie 16, as well as two, brand new, Carolina Skiffs. RECREATIONAL SAILING
Every Saturday during our Fall and
Spring season, we hold a lake day for sailors to enjoy an afternoon on the water. Lake days are the perfect opportunity for the inexperienced to learn the basics of sailing, or just an excuse to hang out at the lake. RACING
Virginia has become a well-respected team in MAISA, Mid Atlantic Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (MAISA), over the past couple of years. We compete in regattas at all skill levels, including annually sailing to qualify for the National Championship. Please see our racing page for more information. LEARN TO SAIL
We now offer a program for people who are new to the sport of sailing in order to learn how to sail! Sailors on the race team will work with newbies and teach them what they need to know in order to start racing. See the Learn to Sail page for more information. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
The sailing team organizes many social events throughout the year. We regularly have parties, camping trips, movie nights, tailgates, as well as an annual ski trip. Note: Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have, University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency. It is a separate and independent organization, which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs.
