Golfers, with Thanksgiving approaching, do want to stay home and watch parades or get out to the course for a few hours. Then come join us at 9:00 Thanksgiving morning for a 18 hole par 3 tournament at River Oaks. Get out from under your family’s feet and enjoy our event and be home in time for food and football. A BIG SHOUTOUT to everyone who participated in the River Oaks Turkey Trot today. Thanks to River Oaks for the hospitality, great food and immaculate golf course. I hope everyone enjoyed the formats and camaraderie. Can’t wait to have another one in the spring.👍

The Foothills Golf Tour concluded its 2nd season today, with the final round of the Foothills Cup at Statesville Country Club.

The question on everyone’s mind, was could first round leader Tim Cooke close out the deal. Tim held a slim 2 stroke lead over Billy Marsh and 3 over Josh Ray. The rest of the players were lurking close behind. Don Jones who was trailing by 5 shots opened with a birdie on 1 while Marsh parred and Cooke bogeyed. Cooke stayed on the bogey train through number 2. This allowed the field to gain even more ground as Marsh pulled even with Cooke. At the turn Cooke and Marsh was dead even. The back nine proved to be nip and tuck between the leaders, while this allowed Jones and John Ervin to get in the hunt. After all the dust settled, Tim Cooke took home the 2019 Foothills Cup with a 2 day total 145. Billy Marsh held onto 2nd place with a 146. Don Jones rounded out the top 3. Tim Cooke brought home $450.00 for his victory, followed by Billy Marsh $350.00 and Don Jones $250.00 for third.

The Foothills Golf Tour converged on Statesville Country Club for the season ending Foothills Cup. Players found the course playing tough, with the new greens still in their infancy stage with putting a premium on bumpy greens. This is a two day net event that found Tim Cooke topping the leaderboard at 71. Close behind was Billy Marsh at 73 followed by Josh Ray at 74. Kevin Eldridge is 4 shots back at 75 with Tate Little and Don Jones with 76. John Troutman and Mike Pepe both at 77. John Ervin and Richard Coleman carded 78 and rounding out the top 11 was Ron Frady at 80. Cooke must sleep with the overnight lead, knowing that a gaggle of players are lurking right behind him. Second and final round action will be contested tomorrow, with the Foothills Cup champion bringing home a payout of $450. Second place receives $350 and third place earns $250. Skins winners today were Tate Little $110, Josh Ray $55 and Ron Frady $55.
