THE JFS™ — MORE THAN A JOURNAL

The Truth About This Book…

This isn’t a diary. This isn’t where you write about your feelings so you feel better…

This is a mental performance training system…

Every page in the JFS™ is designed to make athletes think sharper, perform better, and become the kind of competitor who wins consistently and especially when no one is watching…

The tagline says it all:
Reflect. Reset. Respond. Repeat.

That’s the daily cycle of elite mental performance. And the JFS™ is the structure that makes that cycle a HABIT instead of a one-time only single intention…

What does It Actually Build Every Single Day?!

01 — Self-Awareness

You can’t fix what you can’t see. The JFS™ forces athletes to look at their own thoughts, habits, and emotional responses with honesty. That honesty is the starting line for every mental performance gain.

02 — Emotional Control

The journaling process slows athletes down. It teaches them to reflect instead of react — the exact skill they need under pressure. They’re training it every day.

03 — Discipline

Elite performance is not about talent. It’s about daily discipline and relentless commitment. Showing up to journal when you don’t feel like it IS the training.

04 — Identity

The journal doesn’t just track performance — it shapes who the athlete is BECOMING. Every reflection and commitment written builds the internal picture of the athlete they’re choosing to be.

05 — Mental Toughness

The adversity reflection pages, pressure moment sections, and honest accountability prompts build resilience. The athlete who reflects on adversity instead of running from it gets STRONGER. Every time.

06 — Confidence

Confidence comes from evidence. The JFS™ creates a running record of wins, ex*****on moments, and growth — so when doubt creeps in, the proof is right there in their own handwriting.

07 — Focus

Daily sections on mindset, weekly priorities, and distraction elimination train athletes to protect their attention. Focus is a skill. The JFS™ exercises it every single day.

If you want to put the JFS™ (JOURNAL FOR SUCCESS) in your athlete’s hands, you can grab it on Amazon HERE:

And if you’re ready to go deeper—if you want your athlete to have a Certified Mental Performance Coach in their corner working with them one-on-one—reach out to me directly.

I only take a limited number of athletes at a time because the work we do together is personal.

This isn’t a program you buy and forget. It’s a relationship built around your kid and exactly what they need. If that’s what you’re looking for, let’s talk.

Journal for Success
By Tommy Pavia, Certified Mental Performance Coach, Founder, Superior Athletes Academy

WHAT IF the most powerful performance tool your athlete owns isn’t a piece of equipment...it's a journal!!!

The Research is crystal clear...

Athletes who write down their goals are 42% more likely to achieve them...

Imagine that you have a 42% MORE likelihood of ACHIEVEMENT because YOU got more INTENTIONAL...

NOT a Diary...

But an HONEST TOOL of Determination...

It's a fact: those who journal consistently and share their progress with an accountability partner (coach, parent, friend, etc.) hit their goals at a 76% success rate...

Studies show that just 15 minutes of reflective writing, three days a week, measurably reduces the stress hormone cortisol, the same hormone that causes athletes to “choke” under pressure...

Let that sink in...

The Journal for Success was built on that science—and shaped by over 30 years of coaching more than 500 athletes at every level...

This is a mental performance tool...

Designed with a Guidance System that leads YOU to the most important work you want to do, to date...

Developed by Coach Tommy Pavia, Certified Mental Performance Coach and founder of Superior Athletes Academy, the Journal for Success gives athletes, parents, and coaches a daily system for building the mental habits that separate good competitors from great ones...

What you can expect inside and as a result...

Clarity of purpose—know exactly what you’re competing for and why...

Pre-competition mental preparation rooted in the proven R.E.S.E.T. Method...

Post-performance reflection that accelerates skill acquisition and self-awareness...

Goal-setting with built-in accountability so progress compounds over a season...

Emotional regulation tools that quiet the fear response and sharpen focus under pressure...

Gratitude, faith, and mindset anchors that build resilience through adversity...

Elite athletes have all spoken about the power of intentional self-reflection...

The Journal for Success puts that same practice into a structured, guided format, accessible to any athlete willing to commit 5–15 minutes a day...

For the Athlete: You train your body every day. Now train your mind with the same discipline. The Journal for Success is your edge—your private mental practice space where confidence is built long before you step onto the field, court, or mat...

For the Parent: You want to support your child without adding pressure. The Journal for Success gives you and your athlete a shared language, a bridge between what they experience and what you can encourage. Science shows that parental accountability increases goal achievement by over 30%. This journal makes that possible...

For the Coach: Don't Sleep on This. Reflective journaling doesn’t add time to your practice schedule. It multiplies the value of every rep. Motor learning research confirms that deliberate reflection accelerates skill acquisition. The Journal For Success is the mental training tool your program has been missing...

Your athlete is already putting in the physical work. Give them the mental framework to match it...

"The Walk to the Center"

The long walk to the center of the mat...

Headgear on...

Straps up...

Whistle coming...

And suddenly every doubt YOU (the wrestler) have, shows up at once...

It's not the first time that this has happened...

Most people think that a nervous wrestler just needs to "relax" or "be more confident..."

That's not coaching...

That's hoping...

Nerves in that moment aren't a character flaw...

They're a signal...

What a wrestler does with that signal is a SKILL...

It's Trainable. Coachable, Skill...

Just like a stance or a shot...

THE LAST REP gives wrestlers the actual tools for that walk...

So they step to the center in ex*****on mode instead of fear or evaluation mode...

Confidence isn't something you wait to feel before a match...

It's something you train long before you ever take that walk to the center of the mat...

👉THE LAST REP equips parents, athletes, and coaches to stop wondering and start knowing. Knowing exactly what it takes to be fully present, fully ready, and more than able to master the moments that matter most.

He told me he wanted to be a State Champion.

Not "I want to place." Not "I want to do better than last year."

A state champion!!

I love that kind of clarity...

I love that declaration...

I love the leaning into your goals and even dreams...

I also know exactly what it costs—and it doesn't always arrive on the timeline we draw up in our heads...

His sophomore year, he fell short. A tough opponent, a hard loss, the kind of moment that makes a young competitor stand at a crossroads and ask themselves a question they're not always ready to answer:

Is this still worth it?!

Am I doing enough?

What he did next is what I want every athlete and every parent reading this to understand...

He kept going...

Not because the loss didn't hurt. It did. Not because the goal suddenly felt closer. It didn't.

He kept going because of something I've always believed and tried to pass on to every kid I coach:

Nothing changed...

The loss didn't change who he was...

It didn't change how much he wanted it...

And Trust Me, He wanted it...

It didn't change how loved and supported he was by the people around him....

The bracket changed...

His record changed...

But he didn't change...

And neither did we!!

He came back his junior year...

Did the work...

Stayed the course...

And he earned his state championship!!

And here's what he said about it—in his own words:

"When Coach Pavia first asked me what I wanted to do my sophomore year, I told him I wanted to be a state champion. I fell short that year to a tough opponent, and like Coach Pavia always says, nothing changed. I continued to wrestle, I continued to want it, and I continued to be loved and supported by everyone around me. The next year I worked hard and achieved my goal—and to the same point, nothing changed. I will continue to wrestle, continue to want it, and continue being loved and supported by everyone."

I've read those words more than once...

There's a maturity in them that goes far beyond wrestling...

That's a young man who has learned to separate his identity from his outcomes—and that lesson will carry him long after the shoes are hung up...not to mention his deep faith...

He also said something that I'm genuinely humbled by:

"Coach Pavia is a great balance of being tough when one needs it and being loving and understanding when someone also needs it."

That balance — that's the work. Knowing when to push and when to hold. Knowing when a kid needs accountability and when they need a steadying hand. There's no formula for it. It comes from actually knowing your athlete and caring about the whole person, not just the competitor...

I think about that all the time...

The wins matter...

The championships matter...

But what matters more is what an athlete carries out of the room when the season is over...

Do they know how to handle setbacks without falling apart?

Do they know how to keep wanting something even when it doesn't come right away?

Do they know they are loved and supported — no matter what the scoreboard says?

If the answer is YES, then we did something that goes beyond a medal...

That's what Superior Athletes Academy is built on.

If your athlete is in the middle of their own "sophomore year"—a hard loss, a setback, a season that didn't go the way they planned—I'd love to talk. Not to fix them. They don't need fixing.
Just to help them remember that nothing changed.

Helping Athletes "unlock" their greatness.

A few hours into launch day and I want to tell you exactly what's inside this course—because I want you to know what you're actually getting.

This isn't a collection of motivational material...

Every lesson has a specific outcome, an in-lesson exercise you complete BEFORE pressing play again, and a homework assignment you execute before the next lesson...

This isn't the type of homework you hate to do...

It's the kind of work YOU "GET TO" do, and Trust me (Or the people who are currently working with me or have worked with me...

Here's what the three modules cover:

MODULE 1 · ATTITUDE
You'll learn the Attitude Equation (Event + Response = Outcome), build your personal Attitude Morning Routine, and design a 3-part Attitude Reset Protocol for the moments when everything goes sideways.

MODULE 2 · WORK ETHIC
You'll do a real Effort Audit, build a 4-Part Championship Work Ethic System, start the Extra Rep Protocol (10 focused minutes a day = 60+ extra hours this season), and write a Why List that pulls you through the days you don't feel like showing up.

MODULE 3 · MINDSET
You'll write Five "I AM" statements that rewire your performance identity, run a full visualization session using a 5-step script, and learn the SAA 3-Step Bounce-Back System—Feel it. File it. Fuel it so that mistakes stop compounding and start becoming fuel.

30 days...

Done right...

That's the whole thing...

As parents, it’s sometimes difficult to teach our kids how to train for the stressful game situations. Coach Pavia focuses on strategies for overcoming obstacles and achieving personal goals. His strategies help our daughter in high-stress situations, and she is thriving at dealing with pressure at the plate and on the mound! We see a difference in her ability to manage and cope with the anxiety that comes with pressure, watch her reset, and turn it into confidence. We are so grateful for Coach Pavia and his ability to get her zoned in for each game day!

Coach Pavia was very thorough in helping our son come up with a mental plan for the XC State meet. We wanted all of our son’s hard work to pay off and to not be held back by any negative thoughts or to be overwhelmed by how big the race was. Coach Pavia gave thoughtful, actionable steps to overcome any adversity that our son would face and that gave him the confidence to trust his training. Worth it to hire Coach Pavia!! 🙌🏻

Feeling Blessed and Super Excited about another book published...

A Big Shout Out to my wife for her constant support, encouragement and most of all her prayers...

I have been working hard on getting this out to not only be an ENCOURAGEMENT to Parents of Athletes but also to give them the TOOLS they need to help their athletes reach their full potential...

This won't be live on Amazon for another day or two...

That said, I would love your feedback on it if you decide to purchase a copy... ($13.77 Paperback) ($9.99 as a Kindle Book).

At the end of the day, it is my hope that it truly blesses you, your athlete(s) and your family!!

Thank you for your continued encouragement, support and kind words...

To my athletes...

Super Proud of the Positive Attitude you realize is worth fighting for...

The Work you are putting in each and every day to chase excellence...

And to continue to develop a bulletproof mindset that empowers you to be the best version of yourself...

Thank you to my Parents, who also continue to give incredible support to your kids...

They are ALL Champions in their own right (and you parents, deserve great praise for that!!)

For stepping into (for most) the uncharted world of Mental Performance Training...

Thank you!!

03/20/2026

So what does it take to WIN a National Championship, become an All-American, or reach the pinnacle of any sport?!

I think most would agree it takes “a lot!!”

But I think it’s safe to say that the we all know there are Two Major components…

The physical and the mental!!

But I’m here to talk about the mental aspect…

So what kind of mindset does it REALLY take?

I’ll tell you straight…

It’s not one thing.

It’s a STACK.

And the athletes who separate themselves—on the mat, on the field, in the biggest moments—build this stack over time.

1. OBSESSION WITH IMPROVEMENT

The best don’t chase wins…

They chase growth!!

They’re watching film when nobody’s asking them to…

They’re asking questions most athletes don’t even think to ask…

They’re focused on getting 1% better—every single day…

Not for attention.

Not for praise.

But because they’ve fallen in love with the PROCESS.

They’re in LOCKSTEP with Measuring, Determining, and fine-tuning where they can get BETTER…

Yet it’s a Fun and Healthy Obsession…

One that they truly ENJOY…

2. COMFORT WITH DISCOMFORT

Let me be clear…

High-level athletes don’t avoid hard.

They TRAIN in it.
They’ve felt fatigue.
They’ve felt pressure.
They’ve felt doubt.
They’ve felt the "what ifs."

So when do those moments show up in competition?

It’s not new.

It’s familiar. That’s the Difference.

It doesn’t Disrupt them into becoming immobilized in competition because they’ve PREPARED FOR IT!!

3. SHORT MEMORY. LONG VISION.

They can take a tough loss…

And show up the next day ready to go.

No excuses. No carrying it.

Why?

Because they don’t tie their identity to one result.

They’re committed to something bigger:

Who they’re becoming…

4. ELITE SELF-TALK

When things go sideways—and they will…

They don’t spiral.

They RESET, and they reset fast.

They’ve trained that inner voice:

“Stay in position.”
“One point at a time.”
“I’ve been here before.”
“I belong here.”

That voice in your head?

It’s either helping you… or hurting you.

At the highest level—it’s TRAINED.

5. IDENTITY: “THIS IS WHO I AM”

They don’t hope to be great.

They don’t wish for big moments.

They believe in who they’re becoming—before the results show up.

No hesitation.

No flinch.

Just confidence built on preparation.

Here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:

You don’t rise to the level of your talent…

You fall to the level of your TRAINING.

And if you’re not training your mind? The mental part of performance?

You’re gambling with your full potential.

From Coach Pavia

If you want your athlete to compete like a champion…

They have to THINK like one first.

That’s what Mental Performance Training is all about.

Confidence. Focus. Composure. Resilience.

Those aren’t traits you’re born with.

They’re SKILLS!!

And just like a double leg or a shot setup… Or any sports skill…

They can be Trained. Repeated. Mastered.

The question is…

Are you training your mind…

Or just hoping it shows up when it matters most?!
