Here is a high school football coach who has seen the importance of maintaining ball possession and limiting the time the opposition has with the ball (sounds familiar, doesn't it! Rugby!).
"One day, watching television, Kelley stumbled across a rugby game. That was it. Rugby teams built designed plays despite constant movement, an intricate series of laterals. Teammates didn’t block for the ball carrier; they rushed to the right spot to receive a pitch.

And so Kelley instituted a new system. When he calls out “Rugby!” before an offensive series, his wide receivers change their assignment. Rather than blocking downfield, they rush toward the receiver who catches the ball. If they’re open, they yell the receiver’s name and which side they’re on. He tells his players only to pitch the ball when they’re sure it’s safe."

His next big football hack is crazy. But it could be genius.

Great success story! Chris Milledge, a Providence High School rugby player alumni, now playing for, amongst other teams, Charlotte RFC, has received an offer from a club in Australia, Byron Bay Rugby Union Club, to join their 7's squad for the 2015/2016 season. Chris started his rugby career as a junior playing for Providence High School Rugby Club (originally the Hoggs), in 2008. The long hair has gone but the passion is still there! Congrats Chris!! Take this opportunity and run with it!!

Listen to the story, and look out for this documentary, "Glory Game" of this beloved and talented international rugby player ..... capturing the emotional journey he has travelled as he battles the effects of Motor Neuron Disease (MND) .... an absolutely inspiring story!
" There are two things we take for granted every day; and that is time and health. And the moment you lose that, then only do we wake up!"

Joost van der Westhuizen was the prince of SA rugby.
