I recorded some video on my private flying field on Saturday November 9, 2019 with Harold Mothersill flying his Precision Aerobatics Extra MX electric powered plane.

I thought it was going to be an easy edit, but I forgot to put the stereo microphone on the GoPro on my helmet. I spent a fair amount of time leveling the speech, processing it, reviewing it. and it is not perfect. It was a nice flight by Harold. I did not try to do a lot of zoom. Just a 200% constant zoom from the takeoff. So the plane is not in view all of the time.

He is excited about trying some pylon racing. He is putting a couple of planes together to race with. I'm looking forward to getting him started on the pylon courses. He is flying EF1 planes on RealFlight using my pylon add-on software.

We are having a blast in the shop doing fiberglass work on molds to get him started on making fiberglass and composite parts. We've recorded a lot of video including one of vacuum forming some canopies. And a lot of fiberglass work where I show him how to use the epoxy fillers. I will try to get more videos online soon.

His full scale airplane wheel pant is ready for paint. Hope to get that done soon.

I tried to translate the title and description of this video into Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. Please let me know if I need to fix anything there. Or of any other language requests.

Some of the links in the video point to temporary locations. Those will be changing over the next week or so.

Thanks to Cindy Rena Naylor Stegall for previewing the video edits and making a lot of suggestions. She did want me to remove the part that shows the folding chair that stays down on the field as it has become a bird roost and looks like it does between rains.

I hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks,

Don Stegall

Today, I had help on some EF1 molds from my friend Harold Mothersill. I will be posting photos on Sunday of his first experience doing real fiberglass work.. I also had the video recorder running and may have video as early as tomorrow night or Monday morning.. He is learning a lot of new stuff in my shop and it is cool seeing someone experience things for the first time. He is doing GREAT. All of the batches of epoxy he pumped and mixed are hard. He got the Proud Bird EF1 belly pan and the two cockpit pieces to the point where they only need 4 more layers of 6 ounce fiberglass cloth. He has not tackled the wing fillets yet. He was tired from sending his full scale airplane wheel pant ... helping my neighbor Cliff Zandrowicz get a couple of successful flights ohi his brand new Carbon Cub S+ 1.3m RTF https://www.horizonhobby.com/carbon-cub-s-13m-rtf-p-hbz3200 ... and then we opened up one of the latest versions of the Scarlet Screamer by The World Models on video. Our head are cut off in the video, but I think people will find the videos I will be able to create interesting nonetheless. Harold fell in love with the Scarlet Screamer and it went home with him. After seeing the plane and taking a look at a Proud Bird EF1, he did some laps in RealFlight using my add-on fields and planes for EF1. If you have RealFlight 6 through 8, you should check out http://EF1Pylon.com and get practicing for 2020. I think Harold and I are going to have a blast with EF1 on my flying field in the near future. It is so great having new R/C and music friends to share my hobbies with. And with them motivating me, I think a lot of lingering projects are going to get wrapped up.

Whether you've never flown RC before or you got your first taste of flying with a multi-rotor drone, the Carbon Cub S+ is the most versatile, capable and easiest to fly RC airplane yet because it's equipped with SAFE Plus GPS-enabled drone technology.

To all of my model airplane friends ... After a couple of really tough years, I'm finally feeling good.

I'm getting the house cleaned up. The workshops and my home office are getting cleaned up. The yard and driveway are getting cleaned up.

My neighbor Cliff mowed down the almost 6' tall brush on my part of the field behind my house. Then I got the runway mowed. In the past couple of weeks, I have gotten the whole field mowed to a decent height. I've had help from Harold Mothersill.

In early September this new friend from work came over to our house. I showed him around even though things were all piled up.

He had fun flying my Handyman Twins. I even left him by himself while he was flying.

I got out some of my unassembled ARF kits and snapped them together.

With the main workshop getting cleaned up, I will soon have space to work on the 125 inch wingspan 50cc Pilatus PC-6 Porter that I'm doing with electric propulsion.

After carrying this thing a little ways with no radio and propulsion gear in it, I have decided I have to go from a 50cc equivalent electric motor to a 100cc electric motor. It is going to be over 30 pounds ready to fly

When my hobby budget allows, I will get the Turnigy RotoMax 100cc motor ... https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-rotomax-100cc-size-brushless-outrunner-motor.html?___store=en_us ... I have measured the cowl and know that this motor will fit.

I have the Turnigy 50cc motor and a Castle Creations 160 amp ESC and some batteries ... I will be putting it all together and testing it on the test stand. I will be making videos of putting the propulsion system together and testing it. Then I will work with the 100cc. I can put the 50cc motor in the PC-6 for getting the balance and engine compartment ready.

The goal is to have the PC-6 ready next spring.

Some of the photos show a quarter scale Clipped Wing Cub with an 88 inch wingspan. Harold said that the big plane makes the Cub look like a sport 40 sized plane.

While I'm highly focused on my contract job at Bank of America and on music stuff with http://MakeSomeMusicTV.com and http://ThemeThisMonth.com, I'm going to be doing MUCH more airplane work

Part of MSMTV will be http://DailyMusicTV.com ... Even people who don't want to make music are going to enjoy the coming site and mobile apps..

For all of you model airplane guys that use Android, check out these apps. They are getting updates published soon. https://play.google.com/store/search?q=don%20stegall&c=apps and they are coming to iPhone and iPad later this year.

I'm online to work while I get my Remicade IV Infusion at NOVANT Matthew Outpatient Infusion. I have these treatments every 4 weeks to control my Crohn's Disease. Quite expensive, but luckily I have decent insurance for the time being. I used to have migraines all the time, but since I started these in 2008, I have much fewer migraines. Listening to music and YouTube videos while I work.

I'm still recovering from the DVT/PE blood clots that hospitalized me on June 30, 2019. In fact I'm at the hospital and just had a CT Angio Chest to see if the clots in my lungs have cleared up.

I've had so many health issues since June of 2017 when I had kidney failure. Both myself and my wife have had numerous issues and things have been tough.

I started a new job at Bank of America on June 11. My manager has had to deal with constant doctor visits and tests, and me having to work from home. I was only able to work in the office the full week over the past two weeks.

My flying field behind my house had gotten completely grown over. Like 6 foot tall stuff. On of my neighbors that owns the piece of the field beside mine bush hogged his part and mine. And the neighbor to thr right of him has hi cut down.

With so many health issues, I have gotten to fly an R/C plan in the past year. I have been able to play some guitar and other instruments occasionally over the past year. But I missed two full months of playing guitar.

I had considered giving up R/C. But I have so many projects that I have the needed equipment for and a large number of unassembled ARF kits and laser cut kits, I just can't give up R/C.

My main workshop upstairs is almost ready for some serious plane building, fiberglass work, and composites work.

Our Amazon store is out stock for Cabosil via Prime, but that should be taken care of in a couple of weeks as we have plenty packaged and on hand for fulfillment by us ordered on Amazon or through us. We have a lot of new epoxy filler options coming and we are working on worldwide sales through Amazon so people don't have to pay for international shipping.

So I will soon be making more R/C related videos. A lot of telemetry and artificial stabilization for FrSky, Spektrum, and other brands.

I've been working on a concept called MakeSomeMusicTV for several years. I really enjoy playing with music even though I'm not very good at playing.

The first video is now on the YouTube channel that is for anyone interested in making music on anything from a smart phone to playing in a symphony.

Thanks to all of you for your support over the years.
