Way overdue brag alert! came in 2nd in her age group at the World Championship 70.3 in St. George, UT, last weekend in extremely difficult conditions! She is also now headed to Boston Marathon and will finish out the season with the full Ironman in South Africa! This girl is working hard and inspiring many!

This day, 4 weeks ago
my world was turned upside down once more. My mother passed suddenly and wholly unexpectedly of heart failure in the early morning hours. My life hasn’t been the same since. While our relationship was rocky in my late teens/early twenties, it blossomed into a beautiful friendship by the time I turned 30. She’s been my best friend ever since while also knowing and embracing me as only a mother could.
Her smile says it all. Good-natured, always an open heart and open arms, but also mischievous every so often... and do not cross here either and take her for granted. She will hold the line and keep you on the straight and narrow.
I know I will miss her for the rest of my life, so if you see me crying every now and then in the coming months, just know I’m processing. And as one of my wonderful athletes told me: we’re not crying because we’re sad, but because of how wonderful she was!

Positive self-talk and having an optimistic attitude is linked with better health, more energy, a greater sense of fulfillment in your life, and less stress. Yet, many of us talk to ourselves as we would NEVER speak to anyone else! Your inner dialogue is like your life’s internal soundtrack. You deserve to hear something amazing every day! 📣Diet Soda & Your Metabolism! 😲

💡It can seem like you’re saving calories (and avoiding sugar) if you choose diet soda vs. the regular version. ⚡But is there a HIDDEN COST? 🚫 Short answer? YES.

😲Diet soda is linked with metabolic syndrome, which is a dangerous mix of high blood pressure and high blood sugar that increases your risk of gaining weight … AND developing diabetes, heart disease or stroke.

💡There are a number of studies that back this up, but researchers are looking into exactly WHY. 👉One study that hit the news this year showed that for at least one sweetener (sucralose), it causes your body to mishandle the carbs you eat – not just temporarily, but in lasting ways. Even in teenagers! 🙀😱

➡ Takeaway: Skip the diet soda and choose WATER instead.

⭐Your body craves hydration and drinking a nice cold glass of water can actually give you a metabolic bump as your body warms up the water!🥤When was the last time you had a diet soda?

🤔 Speaking of reducing stress!!! 😴 😴 😴
I've been having a hard time getting a handle on my recovery with so much stuff going on. So, I also invested in a performance monitor to better understand my sleep (and recovery) pattern.
😴🧘 Doesn’t everything feel better after a good night of sleep? You wake up feeling like a brand new person!!!
💡Too many people struggle with sleep – and as many as 1 in 3 of us don’t get a good night’s sleep! 💤 That’s really rough since it’s SO important for your health, mood, metabolism, and the list goes on.
💡One thing that really helps me get a better night’s sleep is our regular bedtime. I also started drinking an ice-cold glass of cherry juice before bedtime, thanks to a recommendation by Dr. Sims. Cherry juice increases your brain's production of melatonin, has its own natural melatonin, and, therefore, will improve restorative sleep. I have a few more things to figure out, but this much is true:
