For as little as I’ve been running, I’ll take this result and 3 of 4 miles sub-7:00. Humid, but ok temperatures and a good course. First time running this race since 2018.

It’s great to finally get the monkey off my back and break my half marathon PR. The first half of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in 2006 has been my half PR for far too long (1:34:03, with the second half much slower and painful). Good race on a tough course. Looking forward to breaking today’s time in November at Beyond Monumental. Halfway through my training cycle for the Eugene Marathon!

Over 1,500 miles run, two marathons that were by far the fastest of my life, strong performances in three shorter distances (5k, 10k, 5 mile), running on a winning trail relay team, and a successful year building the running community through Team Sanford, Charlotte Running Club, and Triple C Beer Runners. Here’s to bigger and better achievements in 2022!

Drugs and running isn’t reserved to just the elite runners. This week’s newsletter focuses on two common types of over the counter drugs used by runners, multivitamins and NSAIDs. Always work with your doctor before starting or changing any kind of medication regimen.

There is a difference between being sore vs. injured when it comes to running. Check out this week’s newsletter, which wraps up six weeks of guides related to training, particularly if you are just starting training.

Soreness and injuries are a reality of distance running. The sore vs. injured conversation impacts beginners and veterans alike. Beginners can get discouraged by soreness early in training and veterans can ignore acute injuries assuming that they are just soreness. Today’s post goes into the diffe...
