Join us on Friday, September 11, at City Hall as we honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, during our “We Will Remember” Memorial Service beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Following the memorial service, from 9:00–10:30 a.m., we invite the community to participate in Public Safety Day. Come meet, thank, and show your appreciation for our local police and fire personnel during this special community event. Both events are free and open to the public.

We are gauging interest in starting a community fantasy football league for Bessemer City and the surrounding area.

There will be no money or buy-in. This league will be all about having some fun, competing with friends and neighbors, and earning bragging rights as the best fantasy football player in Bessemer City.

The league will be a PPR league with a maximum of 12 players per league. There will be no trades, and team names must be appropriate with no profanity. Players must live in or around Bessemer City.

If there is enough interest, we may create more than one league. If a league is created, we will have a draft party on Friday, September 4th at 6:00 PM at the Allan Farris Community Center.

Sign-ups will be first come, first serve. Those who indicate their interest now will receive priority when sign-ups officially open.

The City of Bessemer City is hosting a OneBlood blood drive on Thursday, August 27, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Bessemer City Pool.

All donors will receive a $20 e-gift card and a special OneBlood T-shirt as donor incentives. Additional donor incentives may be announced as we get closer to the blood drive.
