Heads up! Large tree down towards the end of the main loop. The top is hung up on some other smaller trees so I think cutting new trail around it is going to be the easiest solution. Going to go out this Sunday 3/15 to cut in the work around if anyone wants to come help.

Meet at the trail head at noon.

Anybody lose a handlebar light on the trail? Found one today on the main loop, let me know what kind it is and I’ll tell you where to find it.

Go out and ride before it rains again, and then go ride some more after the rain because SWDP is always open! Dawg pic for attention.

SWDP trail enthusiasts,

My name is Justin Kestler, and I will be taking over Trail Coordinator duties for SWDP. I’d like to thank Hank for all his hard work as TC, as well as anyone else that’s ever donated their time to helping build and maintain the trail system, thank you!

Current Trail Updates:
- There is about 4 miles of single track (according to Trail Forks). Main Loop, Stillwater, Little Monster, Abu Run, and Tamale.
- The flyover bridge and wood berms on Abu Run are mandatory right now. Use caution if the wood is wet. A sneak line is on the list of things to do, reach out to me if this is something you want to take on.
- I am working on some new lines on the downhill at the beginning of Tamale. The idea is to create a few downhill option lines with a connection back to the last climb (by passing the rest of the loop) so you can lap the downhills before finishing the rest of the loop.
- The Stillwater loop could use some love but is fully rideable. Use caution on the bridge at the end, it’s a little wobbly. I will be working on a solution, reach out to me if you have any ideas.
- Little Monster and the new-ish run out trail are all good to go but are still fairly fresh and could use more tire traffic to pack In the soft areas.

Overall the trail is in good shape but there is always maintenance needed to keep everything draining and running smooth. Please report any fallen trees or other hazards through the DMs on this page. Stay tuned for a workday sometime in late February/March, I’ll create an event when I nail down a day. Until then the best way to help the trail Is to use It, so get out and ride!

Feel free to reach out to me through the DM’s on this page with any questions/comments/concerns/trail reports.

See y’all on the trail,

Justin

Abu Run Trail with the rock arch bridge is OPEN. The busted pieces and supports from a large tree fall had to be disassembled first and then evaluated on what could be reused. Much of the support structure was in good shape and along with new critical pieces, the support structure was rebuilt. The decking was reattached, bad pieces replaced and the edges finished with a smoother line.
Not sure about how clean the whole loop is. Will be riding the side loops in the coming week and trimning/cleaning up. But the largest and most significant feature in this park is available again. Go get it.

Haven't posted for awhile and been too busy to get over to the park in the past couple of months. Got Main Trail cleared today and plan to go back in to check and clear the rest of the loops this coming week. The damage to the exit wood berm was significant but manageable. The repairs should be done this coming week. The tree trunk was removed today but the berm is still closed. Before and after pics attached.

Dog pic posted for added cuteness. Her name is Lucy. She walked the whole trail with me today in the heat and humidity.
