If you’re new here, we want you to know why DEAF Athletic exists.

It starts with our founder, Dennis. 👋

As a Hard of Hearing recreational athlete, Dennis saw something missing from the athletic world: Gear that truly considered the experience of d/Deaf and HOH athletes.

Not as an afterthought. From the start.

Because when you’re out for a run, on a bike, ride or hike, or pushing yourself outdoors, safety can shape how confidently you move. And too often, the products built for athletes weren’t being designed with Deaf and HOH athletes in mind.

Dennis believed that needed to change.

So he started DEAF Athletic to create safety-first, performance-driven gear designed by and for d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes—while building a community that welcomes every body.

This brand isn’t about focusing on what makes us different.

It’s about what connects us. The drive to go farther. To feel stronger. To move freely. To chase the feeling that only sport can give you.

Dennis didn’t start DEAF Athletic to define athletes by what they can’t hear.

He started it to help every athlete defy what limits them.

When you can’t rely on hearing someone coming up behind you, visibility becomes part of your safety system.

That’s exactly what this athlete experienced during an Outlast race at night: a simple visual cue helped other runners recognize she’s deaf and pass without relying on shouting.

And when you’re racing for hours, performance matters just as much. Lightweight. Comfortable. Built to move without becoming a distraction.

Because safety shouldn’t slow you down. It should give you more freedom to focus on what you came to do.
