🔥 No meet tonight thanks to the heat… so we’ll just rewind to a day when we were racing instead. Throwback to the Crawford Co. Invitational on 8/29/26 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💨

⭐️ In the varsity girls race there were 39 schools in attendance with 230 runners. Our girls placed 14th out of 27 full teams!

⭐️ In the varsity boys race there were 41 schools in attendance with 239 runners. Our boys placed 17th out of 29 full teams!

⭐️With 149 boys competing in the open race, every one of our Pirates ran either a season or personal best!

🎃 SAVE THE DATE — TRACK-OR-TREAT IS BACK! 👻

The SAIL Team and CHS Athletic Department are excited to announce the 5th Annual Track-or-Treat at Charlestown High School!

📅 Thursday, October 22
⏰ Gates open at 7:00 PM
🎟️ $5 per child

Bring the kids in their Halloween costumes for a fun, safe night of tricks, treats, and community around the CHS track!

And the best part? Proceeds benefit the North Clark Outreach Center Elf Tree, helping make Christmas a little brighter for local children and families.

More details will be coming as we get closer, but for now, make plans to come see the Pirates on the track at CHS, the safest place for your Track-or-Treat adventures.

Cross Country kids are different.

They just are.

In a sport that is one of if not the most physically demanding, these kids don’t do it for the hype.

There is very little hype . Maybe a token pep rally or a hand made sign in the hallway. Maybe someone asking “how did you do today”

They don’t do it for the popularity.

Someone may ask who the starting quarterback is going to be this year. Very rarely who the best runner is going to be. Even more seldom, who is your middle of the pack runner?

A lot of the time these kids are the ones that need somewhere to fit in. And someone to fit in with.

They show up before the sun and run.

A lot.

They work hard all week… and their reward?

More running.

These kids do as a sport what other sports do for punishment.

But make no mistake…these kids are some of the toughest most selfless people you will ever meet.

They cheer each other on in practice. They stand by the course and cheer each other on during the race. They struggle together and build a bond through that struggle.

If one of them has a bad race? You’ll hear a teammate pepping them up.

One PR’s (even if they don’t place) and you’ll hear a teammate celebrating them.

One stumbles at the finish line… you can bet a teammate will be there holding them up.

Some never get a medal, or a write up. Or an accolade, or anything other than self fulfillment out of their sport.

They just run. And they’ll show up tomorrow and do it again.

Because it’s not about the awards… it’s who they are.

🏆 Celebrating an Incredible State Track Season! 🏆

Tonight at the Homecoming football game, we had the honor of recognizing two outstanding Pirates, Camran Mitchell and Madison Mattingly, for their incredible accomplishments at the IHSAA State Track & Field Championships! 🏴‍☠️💙

Camran Mitchell 🥇
🏆 IHSAA State Champion – 400m
⏱️ 47.03 PR and one of Indiana’s top times
🔥 A season filled with school records, meet championships and an unforgettable state title!

Madison Mattingly 🥉
🏆 IHSAA State Long Jump – 3rd Place
📏 19’4.75” PR
⭐ CHS School Record
🔥 One of the longest freshman jumps in IHSAA history!

Tonight, both athletes were presented with commemorative pictures to keep as a special reminder of an amazing season and an incredible accomplishment.

We couldn’t be more proud of the hard work, dedication and determination they showed all season long. Their achievements will be remembered for years to come! 💙🏴‍☠️

Congratulations, Camran & Madison! What a season! 👏🏆
