"You get out of it what you put into it"

Time, energy, and effort well spent! I couldn't be happier to have been a part of this program the last three years. We didn't have close to the same staffing, scholarships, facilities, or operating budget of other conference peers. We also didn't care. 🙂 Attitude and effort, baby! If you work your tail off, you're going to see great results. Best team finish in many decades for WIU Track & Field!

Our All-Conference performers:

Aliyah Adams, Sophomore: Conference MVP, 25.25 points, won the triple jump (12.97 / 42-6.75), placed second in the long jump (6.03 / 19-9.5), placed third in the 100 hurdles (13.99), and ran a leg on our 4th place 4x400 relay

Arnie Grunert, Sophomore: Conference Champion in the pole vault (5.24 / 17-2.25). Arnie also broke the Ohio Valley Conference record.

Renee Raglin, Sophomore: Conference Champion in the long jump (6.21 / 20-4.5).

Jasmine Stokes, Senior: Conference Champion in the hammer throw (56.09 / 184-0).

Aylana Cezar, Sophomore: Conference Champion in the women's 3000 steeplechase (11:01.25). Doubled back for a 6th place finish in the 1500.

Logan Lommel, Senior: Conference Champion in the men's 3000 steeplechase (8:59.73). Tripled back placing 4th in the 5000 and 5th in the 1500.

Maleigha Huston, Junior: Conference Runner-Up in the 800 (2:15.36). Doubled that day, also placing 4th in the 1500.

Sophia Myers, Senior: Conference Runner-Up in the 100 hurdles (13.75) and 400 hurdles (1:02.50).

It was a very difficult good-bye to a fun, talented group of assistant coaches and student-athletes. Love this team. 💜💛

Happy Easter Sunday!

When I was nine years old I was attending a program called Awana at Argyle Bible Church in Colchester, Illinois. The teacher, Mr. Otey, was talking about heaven, hell, and the decision we have the opportunity to make here on earth that affects where we spend eternity. Of course I wanted to go to heaven.. who wouldn't! The Bible says, "confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and you will be saved." So Mr. Otey helped lead me through a prayer of salvation and that was it, I became a Christian! Pretty simple.

After that I had this warm sensation inside my body when we were in church. I love church so much! I was "on fire for God" so to speak. I wanted to share my new found faith with everyone around me. My Grandpa had cancer so I tried as hard as I could to share with him before he passed away. For a believer, death wasn't a bad thing to be feared, but instead the start of a perfect eternity with a perfect God in a perfect heaven. No more cancer. No more stress. No more burdens. No more pain. No more of this rat race here on earth.

What an amazing hope we have and it's ALL because of what we celebrate this Easter; the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without His sacrifice on the cross, there is no hope to reconcile sinful humanity to a perfect, holy God. Only through faith in the work of Jesus can we be saved. Our good works can't get us to heaven. In the book of Galatians, God inspired the apostle Paul to write, "For you have been saved by God's grace through faith, not by works, so that no one may boast." If we could save ourselves by being a good person, Christ came and died for nothing.

Some of the final words Jesus spoke to his followers were, “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This Easter, consider faith in Jesus Christ, consider baptism as a public profession of your faith, and consider obedience to the Word of God.

Got questions, please ask! Have a great Easter Sunday. 🙂

🇦🇺 4:26.83 1500 for 🇦🇺

The Akron signee's 4:46 mile conversion would have ranked her second in the Mid-American Conference this season and put her about 10 seconds off of an NCAA National qualifying mark!
