***Raceday Recap***
(Lot's of 2's)
So we started the raceday with about 46° weather, cold and windy. However FDR thrives in adversity, embraces the struggles, and keeps a "stay in the fight" attitude at all times. With that said, I am so proud of every single one of the FDR drivers. In sportsman class, Griffin looked good, improving all day, setting personal best lap times with every session. I believe his fastest lap of the day was 57.4 in the final, on a kart that had a broken part, and he finished last place due to it (100% my fault). More importantly a frustrated Griffin finished the race and took the finish with grace and a "we'll get 'em next time" attitude. I couldn't be more proud of this young driver, and his development.
In the Junior class we had Tori, Parker, and James. Tori looked strong all day finishing 2nd in her 2nd race as a Junior, with the fastest lap of the race(Super proud dad moment). Parker got knocked out of the race the first lap by an unfortunate incident that resulted in a bent rear axle. Although Parker was bummed about the incident, he still kept a positive mental attitude, and will be back for the next NMP race and faster to. James took P11 and had improved all day as well. James is another young driver that is developing nicley and gets faster every session. James had a little bday celebration in the FDR garage that day. It was nice to see a gathered team being supportive of their teammate.
We had a single driver racing in the senior class. G was strong all day and finished 2nd in the final after leading most of the race but took a little contact to the rear bumper and got a little loose. All in all a great day at FDR with 2 podiums, some driver learnings, and a bday celebration. I'm proud the way these drivers handled themselves in all situations. We'll be at the Rt 66 sprint series race next weekend at New Castle Motorsports Park. Let's goooo!!!
