Where My Leadership Story Started

Early in my career, I was encouraged to do more than teach—I was encouraged to lead.
In my first teaching role, I had a strong role model who believed in me, made himself available, shared what he had learned over the years, and—most importantly—let me fail and learn from it. That experience shaped how I view leadership to this day.

Leadership, at its best, is not about having all the answers. It’s about creating space for growth, building trust, and helping people learn who they are and how they contribute.

Those early years taught me that when people feel supported and trusted, they take ownership. And when ownership and direction are clear, meaningful progress follows.

That foundation is still with me—and it’s why I care so deeply about how leaders develop others, not just results.

Why Trust Matters So Much to Me

One of the greatest joys in my work today is watching leadership teams and frontline leaders move in the same direction—focused, aligned, and committed to serving others well.
I value trust deeply.

When people understand their role, trust one another, and commit to a shared direction, a lot can get done—and done well. Not perfectly, but excellently.
I learned this early in my career through hands-on leadership experiences: designing lessons that kept people engaged, adjusting based on individual needs, collaborating on curriculum, serving on committees, and leading initiatives that required coordination and follow-through.

Those experiences reinforced something I still believe:
Trust is not accidental. It’s built through clarity, consistency, and leaders who are willing to show up, listen, and stay the course.
That belief continues to guide how I coach leaders and teams today.
