Haven’t posted in awhile.
We are working our way into retirement.
We lost 2 beginner lesson horses due to old age with them being well over 30 years old.
We are only offering part time horse training ( which is fully booked at this time) and no longer offering riding instruction.
This has been in the works for well over three years and with Covid, it kind of kick started everything.
Instructor and horse Insurance, feed and care has increased in price and its no longer affordable to continue our riding facility and be able to keep the rates affordable.
Personally, it is time or us to focus on our family and to take advantage of what time that we have with them.
I have been giving instruction and training for 37 years in total. 😱
There are some wonderful cutting edge younger riding instructors available in Osceola county that are willing to take the riders all the way to state championships. 🥰
Our on site herd is now officially retired after 20 years of back to back riding lessons and instruction. Our lesson horses are now approaching their late 20s. 😮 They will enjoy a laid-back routine that includes regular exercise and personal care. ❤️
We have many memories that I hope have all been excellent learning experiences.
Many of our riders that started at the age of 4, are now looking into college or expanding their horsemanship into state finals.
I wish you all good luck and it has been an amazing adventure!

Did you know fall grass could be just as dangerous as spring grass for a laminitis-prone horse?

Most horse owners know they should be wary of lush spring grass, which produces large amounts of sugary substances to give the pasture energy to grow. What you may not know, is that fall grass also accumulates high levels of soluble sugars and carbohydrates, due to the combination of warm days and cool nights, as well as increased precipitations.
For horses at higher risk of developing laminitis, this refreshed grass may be enough to push them over the edge.

While the exact mechanisms by which the feet are damaged due to laminitis remain a mystery, certain precipitating events can produce the condition. Although laminitis occurs in the feet, the underlying cause is often a disturbance elsewhere in the horse's body (like overfeeding).
By learning more about this condition, you may be able to minimize the risks of laminitis in your horse or control the long-term damage if it does occur.

Learn more about laminitis on our website at https://aaep.org/horsehealth/laminitis-prevention-treatment and, as always, contact your veterinarian for more information and advice tailored to your horse's individual situation.

You know it’s hot when the horses are piled up in front of the fan. Lol

Watch your horses breathing during theses times. If you see your horse laying down at an odd time during the day and for too long, you may want to go check on them.

Heads up

Both ivermectin and dexamethazone are being publicized on social media as possible cures for Covid and are going through clinical trials now.

If you depend on any of these, I encourage you to stock up on your meds just in case. I do know for a fact that dex in the pill form can no longer be found and cannot even be back ordered.
Dex in injection form is starting to become harder to find.

Pretty cool training!
