Replaced everything mechanically possible, plugs, injectors, coil packs Friday night at Limaland and engine still was not running right.

After a good wash early Saturday morning, I did a more in depth investigation and found cylinder #2 did not have any compression. Sounded like it was blowing past the intake valve so no other choice at this time than to pull the engine and see what the diagnosis is.

Very frustrating to say the least.

Looking ahead the next few weeks, game plan is to race at Limaland motorsports Park this Friday night June 12th. If all goes well, then we hope to be at Waynesfield Raceway for a special Ohio Sprint Speedweek show on Thursday June 18th which will be televised on Flo-Racing.

Family fun night at Eldora was a little chilly but was offset by great enthusiasm from the local crowd combined by an impressive drone and fireworks show! Unfortunately out motor dropped a cylinder midway through the heat race and did not have time to do much in depth diagnostics. However after a giving the car a bath this morning and digging into the engine, I think I found the issue. The spark plug photo on the right is what a normal plug looks like. The one on the right is what I pulled out cylinder #2.

Race 1 at Montpelier Motor Speedway in the books. An electrical issue while taking the green flag during qualifying meant starting at the back of the heat race. Unfortunately our heat race had a lot of heavy hitters in front of us -but with the talent the series has, that could probably be said about most heat races.

Missed the transfer by one spot and had to do it the hard way coming through the B-main. Started back of feature I tried a few things different for learning purposes. Not sure if it worked but did move up a few spots for a while until towards the end of the race when driver moved down to allow the leaders to battle it out and then had to take evasive action to miss a spinning car in turn 3. Was able to load car up without any major bruises and a used up right rear tire.

Track was is good shape and the USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets put on a great show once again at Montpelier Speedway by The Milkman. This has become my favorite track and hope to have more races there in the future.

Getting the car cleaned up and some routine maintenance before heading down the road to Eldora Speedway this Saturday May 2nd for an always entertaining Family Fun Night.

Well shucks... that didn't go as planned this past weekend at Montpelier Motor Speedway by the Milkman. But that's been the theme for the whole chaotic season it seems.

After a decent qualifying run and adequate heat race, the night and season came to an end midway through the make-up feature due to a leak in the oil pan. Fortunately it was not the traditional angry connecting rod punching though the oil pan, but something external putting a small gouge in the side of the pan. couldn't find any bubblegum or quick set JB weld. But it should be an easy fix for the off season.

Off season- part of me questions whether the frustration , time and $$$ is really worth fighting the uphill battle especially since a few of the teams have got REALLY GOOD! I used to think an occasional top 5 was achievable, but now maybe a top 10 is more realistic with my current resources. Its tempting to exchange the operation and get a pontoon to relax floating around on the lake. Or maybe invest in a hunting plot where there is more than one deer per square mile... I have quite a few projects around the house too that are on my mental list.

But I also have a competitive and stubborn side too. Between the early season issues with getting new system harness and engine figured , and out the rainouts and small technical annoyances, I really don't feel like this season gave us a fair shot either to see if the upgrades were beneficial. Part of me still wants to take a couple of opportunities to drive it myself though my birth certificate and physical fitness coach (or lack of) argues that this may not be a good idea.

So I have a few months to figure this out. Finding a few business partners would definitely help, but personally I find it difficult to ask others for money to support wat i consider to be one of my passions. We are blessed to have many successful businesses in our area, but there is also a lot of need in the community too that they use their blessings to support. And therefore that is why I use my racing as a means to promote a mission that is very important to me- conservation of land, habitat, and natural resources.

One last note: I am interested in upgrading to an enclosed trailer. Nothing fancy or extravagant. Something from 18-24' would be ideal. So if anyone is selling one- I may be interested.
