🦶 How to Wrap Your Foot With an ACE Bandage

Dealing with foot or ankle swelling? Here’s a simple way to apply compression:

1️⃣ Start at the toes
Begin at the base of your toes and make 3 circular wraps.

2️⃣ Work toward the ankle
As you wrap down the foot, gently stretch the bandage to about 50% stretch. Keep the pressure even.

3️⃣ Figure-8 around the ankle
Wrap around the ankle using a figure-8 pattern for added support.

4️⃣ Secure the bandage
Make sure it’s snug and comfortable—not too tight.

🧊 Using ice? Always wrap your ice pack in a towel or pillowcase before placing it on your skin.

⬆️ Elevate! Rest your leg on pillows to help reduce swelling.

⚠️ Safety first: If your toes become numb, tingly, cold, pale, blue, or increasingly painful, remove or loosen the bandage right away.

Compression should feel supportive—not painful! ❤️

I’m so excited to see so many of you accept my invitation to follow this page! Welcome to Ask A PT! 🎉

We have a wonderful mix of healthcare professionals joining this community. I want to welcome nurses, registered dietitians, occupational therapists, pelvic health specialists, vestibular and balance experts, and, of course, physical therapists specializing in different areas of PT—from outpatient, inpatient care to home health.

WELCOME, EVERYONE! 🙌

Before we get our conversations rolling, I’d like to establish a few simple guidelines:

1️⃣ Healthcare professionals
If you are a healthcare provider sharing educational or expert content, please introduce yourself and include your profession. You’re welcome to mention your workplace, or you may post simply as an individual healthcare professional.

2️⃣ Consumers and non-healthcare professionals
You are absolutely welcome to ask questions and participate in the conversation! If you decide to seek services from any professional connected with this page, please keep in mind that they are independent professionals and fees may apply for telehealth consultations or in-clinic evaluations, at the provider’s discretion.

3️⃣ Verified professionals only
As the administrator of this page, I reserve the right to remove posts or content from practitioners whose professional credentials cannot be verified.

Most importantly, let’s keep this page educational, respectful, professional, and helpful. We’re here to share knowledge, answer questions, and build a community where everyone can learn from one another.

Thank you for being here, and WELCOME TO ASK A PT! 💙

Welcome to Ask A PT. Our mission is to create a space where you can ask questions and connect with live, verified, licensed physical therapists.

This is a safe place to ask those more intricate, personalized questions that AI or Google may not always be able to answer. While we welcome input and comment from PTs and non-PTs in the community, please remember that every person, condition and case is different.

Some questions or conditions may require a formal evaluation by a physical therapist. In those situations, a referral to a local PT may be recommended for individualized care.

Are you a licensed PT and want to participate? Please DM me your full name, state, and clinic address so we can verify your credentials.

You must not have any direct financial interest or financial gain from any product you recommend.
