Beautiful tribute to a Forever Bulldog ๐๏ธ๐พโฅ๏ธ๐ถ
Today, the Carthage Bulldog Football family grieves the loss of one of our own, Kendrick โBingoโ Henderson.
Kendrick was a cornerstone of Bulldog Football. A member of the 2008 and 2009 State Championship teams and a three-year starter, he was one of the very first players Coach Scott Surratt met when he arrived on campus in the spring of 2007, and he quickly became a foundational piece of our program. Wearing #52, Kendrick was a dominant presence at the center position. His toughness, intelligence, and command of the offensive line set the tone in the trenches and helped establish the championship standard and expectations that continue to define Carthage Football.
He earned multiple honors as a player and continued his football career at Northwestern State University on scholarship before an injury ended his playing days. While he was an exceptional athlete, those who knew Kendrick best will tell you that his character far outweighed his talent. His attitude, humility, and work ethic made him special not just as a player, but as a young man. The pride and discipline he showed wearing #52 reflected the way he approached every aspect of life.
Coach Scott Surratt shared this about Kendrick:
โKendrick was everything you want in a football player and even more as a young man. He was tough, dependable, and played the game the right way every snap. What truly set Kendrick apart was his character, his attitude, and his work ethic. From the moment I met him, he set the standard for what it means to represent Carthage, to wear the C, and to play the game the way a Carthage Bulldog should. He helped lay the foundation of our program, and that standard still lives on today.โ
Beyond the field, Kendrick devoted himself to his family and his community. A loving husband and father, he cherished time with those he loved most. He also gave back through coaching youth football and baseball, impacting countless young athletes across Carthage and teaching them the same toughness and pride he once carried as #52.
Kendrick lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service. Though his time with us was far too short, his influence in our locker room, our community, and our history will never fade.
Please join us in lifting up his wife, Crystal; his twin sons, Karson and Karter; his parents, Kemmy and Priscilla; his brother, Kedrick; along with all of his other relatives, friends, and loved ones in prayer and support during this incredibly difficult time.
Forever a Champion. Forever a Bulldog. โค๏ธ๐ค
