Attention:
In the days since announcing The Isle of Wight County WildPack for the PYFCO Spring Bling season we want to clarify what this means for our organizations as we’ve been fielding questions…

🏈 This is a JOINT venture…BOTH Wildcats and Packers orgs coming together to provide additional playing opportunities to our players outside of the fall season.

🏈 This is not a new organization.

🏈 As we have planned this from the beginning, leadership from BOTH orgs have agreed and determined how the season will operate TOGETHER and will continue to do so through the entirety of the season. BOTH leadership groups will be visible throughout the season to ensure its success.

🏈 Coaches from BOTH orgs who are interested and available to coach during the spring season have been asked and are welcome to support in coaching roles. We had a great first coaches meeting and will continue to solicit more coaches as we want the most support possible for our players.

🏈 There can only be use of one host’s facilities. Smithfield Packers have graciously agreed to host practices and home games this season.

🏈 Ultimately, this joint season is first and foremost a fun opportunity for our players to interact with kids from nearby communities. Many have played sports together, have been classmates, and are already friends. Secondly, WE are representing OUR county and highlighting to the 757 the talent that is bred here.

We’ll be opponents later this fall BUT this spring WE are THE WILDPACK! 💙💛

Hello everyone! My name is Tania Upton, and I am a graduate of Bethel High School in Hampton, VA. I began running track at the age of 8 and continued throughout my senior year of high school, where the sport became a major part of my life.

Having the opportunity to coach and support others who are where I once was when I first started is truly an extraordinary privilege. Unfortunately, losing most of my senior year due to COVID further solidified my desire to become a coach and give back to the sport that gave me so much.

How’s everyone doing?!
My name is Malik Mason, and I’m a graduate of Phoebus High School in Hampton. I began running track in my 10th-grade year, quickly fell in love with the sport, and it became a major part of my life.

Now, having the opportunity to coach and give back to these kids as part of this organization means everything to me. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I’m excited for the journey ahead.

This meeting will help us align what we’re able to support for the spring season, including:
• Spring Flag Football for girls and boys

The Smithfield Packers 6U flag football team is headed to the superbowl after a 7-0 playoff win over Grafton Tabb. They’ll face the VA Eagles Red this Saturday at a location to be announced.
