Lake Allatoona Spotted Bass report 02/01/26
Can you say cold! Water temps ranging from 45°-47° all across the lake. Air temps Vary daily but most days we’re seeing 25°-40° with 5-15mph winds.
The lake is muddy from little river all the way to clear creek. With slight staining from clear creek to the dam and clear from the dam towards the iron hill area.
Spotted bass were a little easier to locate prior to all the rain that rose the lake level and muddied the water. They can still be found hovering around the creek channel and steeper channel swings that parallel the bank. As well as sandy/gravel points. One point I found this week had fish holding in it with only 15ft of water across the point. Shaking a minnow with FFS as well as a flutter spoon or A rig will catch these fish located in these areas. There has also been a decent jig bite around these sandy/gravel points
Largemouth have been hit or miss for me the back half of his month, you can burn a rock crawler in an red color down the bank and around rocks in the afternoon but the bites have been sporadic at-least for me the past 2 weeks. If you do get one to commit hang on because the bigs have been showing themselves lately. Multiple 15-16lb bags have been weighed in recently.
In the coming weeks I’ll be looking for more and more bait to show up in these common areas around channel swings as well as more spotted bass. Right now there are a lot of schools of hybrids/stripes/and crappie right now.
Be careful out there and wear your pfd, as these low water temps paired with multiple layers of clothing can be deadly if you fall in this time of yeard
