Lake Allatoona Spotted Bass report 02/01/26

Can you say cold! Water temps ranging from 45°-47° all across the lake. Air temps Vary daily but most days we’re seeing 25°-40° with 5-15mph winds.
The lake is muddy from little river all the way to clear creek. With slight staining from clear creek to the dam and clear from the dam towards the iron hill area.

Spotted bass were a little easier to locate prior to all the rain that rose the lake level and muddied the water. They can still be found hovering around the creek channel and steeper channel swings that parallel the bank. As well as sandy/gravel points. One point I found this week had fish holding in it with only 15ft of water across the point. Shaking a minnow with FFS as well as a flutter spoon or A rig will catch these fish located in these areas. There has also been a decent jig bite around these sandy/gravel points
Largemouth have been hit or miss for me the back half of his month, you can burn a rock crawler in an red color down the bank and around rocks in the afternoon but the bites have been sporadic at-least for me the past 2 weeks. If you do get one to commit hang on because the bigs have been showing themselves lately. Multiple 15-16lb bags have been weighed in recently.
In the coming weeks I’ll be looking for more and more bait to show up in these common areas around channel swings as well as more spotted bass. Right now there are a lot of schools of hybrids/stripes/and crappie right now.
Be careful out there and wear your pfd, as these low water temps paired with multiple layers of clothing can be deadly if you fall in this time of yeard

Lake Allatoona 10/23/25 Spotted bass report

The lake is in the first phases of the turnover currently, areas around little river up to Victoria are currently turning. Galts to the dam shouldn’t be too soon after. The turnover can present some amazing fishing times but also present some leaving the lake scratching your head times. Majority of the spots have left their summertime hangouts and are transitioning to the first 1/3-2/3 of the creeks as well as shallow flats.
Covering water is in my opinion one of the keys to success this time of year. The fish are moving quickly and spots are changing almost daily.
The good news is you can almost pick your favorite presentation this time of year and be successful with it.
I like to start off throwing either a buzz bait or popr on steeper bluff walls and rock early in the day to try and find eager fish cruising, once the sun comes up take a spro rock crawler, minime or spoon and throw it wherever you can find lay downs right now, especially with the lake coming down rather quickly it can be tough to find laydowns that have decent water on them. However, finding ones still holding in some water will almost always hold fish. Take your time scouting and develop a milk run type pattern targeting banks with deeper blowdowns on them.
For the finesse and scope guys. Keep the drop shot and shakey head on deck and look for that bite to get even better. Fish are holding on brush piles in the 10ft range and can be casted to on FFS. Watch he fish follow it down and work it slowly through the brush pile, you can also get right on top and drop on them as well. Look for this bite to get better as it cools like I said before.
The largemouth are also out and you have a high chance of stumbling upon a decent one this time of year while covering water. I had a decent one eat a shaky head on top of a blowdown as I was reeling it in yesterday.

As the lake turns over as a whole keep moving and don’t spend too much time in areas with a lot of bubbles/scum on the surface. The fishing should only get better once the turnover starts subsiding.
Feel free to pm me and questions and good luck !
