12U Canton Blades Hockey

Returning to the 12U Blades is dynamic defender Peyton McHenry! The old saying "Big things, come in small packages" is fitting here. Peyton is a very dynamic defender, with solid skating skills, great vision and the ability to know what play to make and when to make it. She is a 100% effort player all times, and a tenacious player that gives offensive players fits all over the ice. Peyton was a big part of the Blades defensive scheme last year and her return is a welcome for the Blades family and team. Peyton enjoys, soccer, lacrosse, hockey and Volleyball. Peyton's favorite NHL team is the Washington Capitals!

Well, been slacking a little bit on the postings...

Now introducing for her first year in girls 12U Hockey, Eliza Miller. Eliza is a good skater, teammate and able to handle the puck well in space. She is a athlete able to make plays for herself and her teammates. Her number is 55, Eliza's favorite hockey team is the Buffalo Sabres.

Eliza enjoys swimming, baking, soccer and softball. Eliza's role model, most probably know is Laurie Haley.

The 12U Canton Blades welcomes Eliza to the family!

The 12U Blades would like to introduce for her first year with 12U Blades Hockey Kyla Williams.

Kyla loves to rollerblade and go for runs in her free time. Her favorite sport is hockey, and her favorite number is 12. Her teammates refer to her as Ky.

Kyla is a very good skater with the ability to make plays in tight situations. She has vision to be able to give herself space and open the ice for her teammates to make plays and the confidence to be able to make those plays for herself and her team. Kyla's favorite hobby is bedazzling, so if any of her teammates are looking for some extra flair on those uniforms or sticks don't be afraid to ask her.

The 12U Blades family would like to give a big shout out and welcome to Kyla and her family!

The first skate of the year was a great time had by all the girls and the coaches. It was good to see and get everyone back on the ice for some hight flying girls action! The girls had a blast on the ice and at Camp Goodnow after the skate. Lots of good things were seen and there is a lot to get to work on, It's gonna be a great year!

Up next, in her first year with the 12U Canton Blades is #5 Reese Cook. Reese is a dynamic skating defender, who can transistions well into offense. Her speed and ability to see the ice make her a threat to wreack havoc and create playmaking opportunities for herself and her teammates. Her favorite sport is hockey. Reese hobbies include chicken farming, lacrosse, fishing and waterskiing. Reese favorite NHL Team is not the Florida Panthers, because her favorite player Brady Tkachuk recently was sent to Florida from Ottawa.

Reese will help bolster that solid defensive core of the Blades and is an great addition to an already talented girls team.

Returning for her 2nd year of 12U TB Hockey, forward Jordan Blevins.

Jordan is a dynamic playmaking forward, with great vision of the ice. Jordan is often found making plays happen, setting up teammates with opportunities or putting the puck in the net herself. Jordan enjoys skiing, boating and playing outside. Jordan's role model is her big sister Saige, who recently went off to play college lacrosse on a scholarship. Jordan is a high IQ player, with a big offensive skillset and can always be counted on at both ends of the ice!

The Blades family looks forward to Jordan hiting the ice, this year making plays happen, scoring goals and setting her teammates up for playmaking opportunities.

Well, it's that time of year! Ok, lets be totally honest, did hockey ever really end? LOL, no...anyway, it is time for one of everyones favorite segments, GET TO KNOW THE BLADES!

First up, returning for her second year of Tournmanent Bound, 12U hockey, #2, Defender Alex Hayes, aka Axel, aka Hazer, aka A-Oh, aka Alice, aka Axel Rod, aka Seastar, aka Alison, aka Baby Hippo, aka Alexie-Oh. Alex returns this season as a big part of a shut down defensive core, that gave little to no scoring opportunities to opposing teams last year. Alex is a smart, physical defender that uses her positioning and body well to keep opposing forwards from high danger opportunities. Alex loves sports, playing outside and hanging with her family. Her favorite sport is softball, and her idol is her bumpa.

Welcome back Alex, the Blade family looks forward to more of that physical shutdown play!

Well folks, it’s all over. Those girls, coaches, parents, family and fans should be proud. A small area like ours found girls to compete at the highest level possible and took them to the edge.

In the end the game was decided by a shootout. Crazy that a championship is decided that way but those are the rules.

My hats off to the 14U Canton Blades Hockey, hold your heads high ladies because, I know you inspired my daughter during this run and many others like her. The heart, determination, grit and will you ladies showed is unreal. I know you girls turned a bunch of heads at that tournament and those watching…asking “where is Canton NY?!” Congratulations ladies, extremely impressive.
