🔴⚫️ A FAVORITE MOMENT FROM THIS SPRING ⚫️🔴

Now that the school year is over, there’s finally a little time to reflect on some of the moments that made it special.

These photos were taken during Baseball Senior Night at Kent State after what felt like a once-in-a-lifetime fog delay. The lights, the atmosphere, and the wait made everything feel a little surreal.

Somewhere along the way, Lilly Benshoff—whose two older brothers are on the team—decided the game needed a bat girl. Without hesitation, she grabbed a helmet, picked up a bat, and got to work. We’re not sure anyone could have stopped her even if they wanted to. 🤣

What we love most is that nobody asked her to do it. She just saw an opportunity to be part of the moment and jumped right in. That sense of adventure, confidence, and genuine Rough Rider pride made her one of the stars of the evening.

Some kids watch the game. Lilly found a way to be part of it. ❤️🖤

🏅🇺🇸 MARINE CORPS DISTINGUISHED ATHLETE AWARD 🇺🇸🏅

Congratulations to Theodore Roosevelt seniors Jorja Crabtree and Gavin Edwards on being selected as this year’s recipients of the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award.

Presented annually to one senior male and one senior female, the award recognizes outstanding varsity athletes who demonstrate leadership, courage, self-confidence, citizenship, and character both on and off the field of competition. Recipients serve as positive role models within their school community.

Through their athletic accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to representing Roosevelt with pride, Jorja and Gavin have proven themselves worthy of this honor.

Congratulations to two outstanding Rough Riders on this well-deserved recognition! 🔴⚫️

🔴⚫️ JOHN ESTEP EARNS DIVISION III ALL-DISTRICT HONORABLE MENTION ⚫️🔴

Congratulations to John Estep on being named Division III All-District Honorable Mention by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Unlike league honors, All-District recognition is voted on by a panel of coaches from across the district. Earning this honor reflects not only John's accomplishments on the field, but also the respect he and the Rough Rider Baseball program have earned throughout Northeast Ohio.

A four-year letter winner, two-time Suburban League honoree, and senior team captain, John was a steady presence for the Rough Riders throughout his career. His leadership, work ethic, and commitment to the program helped contribute to the success of Roosevelt Baseball both on and off the field.

Congratulations, John, on this well-deserved recognition and on representing Rough Rider Baseball with pride throughout your career. 🔴⚫️

🔴⚫️ TEDDY MACCARONE EARNS DIVISION III ALL-DISTRICT HONORABLE MENTION ⚫️🔴

Congratulations to Teddy Maccarone on being named Division III All-District Honorable Mention by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Unlike league honors, All-District recognition is voted on by a panel of coaches from across the district. Earning this honor reflects not only Teddy’s outstanding accomplishments on the field, but also the respect he and the Rough Rider Baseball program have earned throughout Northeast Ohio.

A four-year letter winner, four-time Suburban League honoree, three-time All-District selection, two-time Portage County Gold Glove winner, and team captain, Teddy leaves behind one of the most accomplished careers in recent program history.

Congratulations to Theodore Roosevelt seniors Mahlia Friedman and John Estep on being selected as this year's recipients of the OHSAA Courageous Student Award.

Presented annually to one senior male and one senior female, the award recognizes students who have demonstrated courage, perseverance, and resilience while overcoming significant challenges and adversity.

Throughout their time at Roosevelt, Mahlia and John have shown remarkable strength, determination, and character. Their ability to face challenges with courage while continuing to make a positive impact on those around them makes them truly deserving of this honor.

ALL-SUBURBAN LEAGUE FIRST TEAM ⚾️

Congratulations to Teddy Maccarone and Johnny Estep on being named First Team All-Suburban League!

Teddy and Johnny were two of the area’s premier infielders this season, setting the standard with their play on both sides of the ball. Their talent and ability to deliver in key moments were a major reason for the Rough Riders’ success throughout the spring.
