And that's a wrap on our Eagle race weekend at the Haymaker Classic! Our Tigers pushed hard on this fast course and displayed their cornering know-how down the last descent, fondly known as "the corkscrew." Our team brought home 3rd place for the weekend theme of Superhero - with many thanks going to Jeremiah's family for putting together our team and tent decor! Joshua clocked our team's fastest lap at an impressive 25:35, and Heidi raced her three varsity laps in an inspiring 1:33:23.

It was a hot, dry, and dusty day at the Haymaker Classic, and we're so happy with the effort displayed by ALL of our mountain bikers throughout race day on and off the bike. Several riders moved up in position, and junior Brandt moved up so much that he nabbed the league's coveted Slingshot award for the day! One new MTBer proudly rode down the corkscrew without stopping (!!!) and Tigers earned two podium finishes: Ada earned 5th place in the Freshman Girls category and Bryce L took home 5th in Sophomore Boys. Other top points earners include: Heidi 7th in Varsity Girls, Erin 13th in JV Girls, Joshua 14th in JV Boys, Sophia 17th in JV Girls, Emily 19th in JV Girls, and Jeremiah 15th in Sophomore Boys. We're already looking forward to some big training days this week as we look ahead to racing at the Spring Valley Scramble in Glenwood Springs in two weeks!

Lightning has been wreaking havoc on our practices the last few weeks, but we are making lemonade out of lemons. Tonight was a quick pivot to head indoors and do a team CrossFit workout.

If lightning comes within ten miles, we are forced to halt practice and wait 30 minutes since the last strike. One more strike, 30 additional minutes of delay often puts us into darkness. We are building strong minds and strong bodies leading into Saturday’s race in Eagle. GO TIGERS !

Hello local CCHS Tiger mountain biking family and fans. The time has come for me to begin filling volunteer posts for the Colorado High School Cycling League races on our local race course October 9-11 at Royal Gorge Ranch and Resort. This course is on private land and was built in 2025 by local volunteers. Our 2025 event was a huge success, and our intent is to make 2026 even better.

Our CCHS Tiger Mountain Biking team races on Saturday, but we will need volunteers both Saturday and Sunday as we have about 400 high school athletes racing each day. Volunteering is FUN, and I promise you will leave inspired. In 2025, our local community volunteered over 300 hours, and our team is most grateful. It takes a village to put these races on safely.

Like to ride? Volunteer as a race sweep, roving course marshal or course marshal. No experience is required to volunteer and you can choose positions such as course crossing, parking, merchandise sales, volunteer coordinator assistant, timing assistant, etc.

As Chief Course Marshal for the league, we always need course marshal volunteers. We have 13 course marshal spots to fill in the AM and PM both days. Volunteer all day and I’ll deliver lunch to you. Walk or bike to your assigned position on course, cheer the kids on, report any medical issues, keep kids safe and on course. I will provide all your instruction before your AM or PM shift.

Last night, our Tigers took a break from training to tackle four trail work projects on our race course before our October home race, the Royal Gorge Rumble. Our Tigers and seven coaches proved we truly are “Better Together”. Together, we accomplished:
- Building a new berm in a flat corner that athletes were sliding out on during our hosted pre ride (thank you Kerry for donating your time and heavy equipment to move dirt). This crew also trimmed up a huge tree that was making entry into that berm blind. Then, they hauled off all the heavy branches.
- Clearing a grass field of cactus that will be used for team pit zones on race day (no one wants to ride their bikes over cactus before a race)
- Evening out some dirt and spreading roadbase in a rock tunnel that will be used on our warm up loop before athletes tackle their race. It had been pooling up with water and creating mud (thank you Chip for providing the roadbase)
- Made the “rocky ridge” section of our course a little less rocky and did some raking and cactus mitigation.

Leadville. High elevation. Gritty course. Inconsistent weather - always & often includes cold & rain! Our first race of the season at the Cloud City Challenge in Leadville was a big success for Tiger Mountain Biking on so many levels. With seven (yes, seven!) new riders rounding out our team of 20, we've been hard at work building our team for 2026. Taking time to not only learn skills and endurance, we've also re-focused on our values. Some of the team's best moments throughout race day displayed our "strong team" ethic to support and encourage every rider. Top CC MTB finishes include: senior Heidi Numsen 9th place Varsity Girls, Ada Graber 5th place Freshman Girls, Hannah Numsen 6th Sophomore Girls, senior Sophia Anderson 13th JV Girls, Bryce LeDoux 7th Sophomore Boys, Erin Sallie 15th JV Girls, and senior Mason Lenard in 24th place in the Varsity Boys category. Congratulations, Tigers! 🐅

Here’s just one example of the amazing and kind student athletes we have on the Tiger mountain biking team this season. At our team fundraiser on Friday night, Freshman rider, Josiah Anderson, took 9 year old Zach Wick under his wing and rode the entire six mile course lap with him. The following day, he gave tours of the course to athletes from Air Academy High School (his competition at our race in October). Good things are happening for 2026!

It was a BIG weekend for our Tiger mountain bikers!

Friday night was our team fundraiser. We are so grateful for the support from our local community showing up to ride our race course with the athletes or just hang out with us. These donations go a long way to helping our kids afford the season ahead. Thank you!

Saturday morning we hosted a pre ride of our race course for any athlete racing here in the fall. Our Tiger mountain bikers gave tours of our home turf race course to about 100 athletes and coaches from Air Academy, Highlanders Composite, Wheat Ridge, Highlands Ranch, Monarch and Lakewood. Thank you Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort and Ty Seufer for allowing us access to the ranch.

On Sunday, a few Tigers raced the local Royal Gorge Gravel. Coach Ryan took 2nd place overall in the 100 mile race (9000 feet of climbing 🫪). Athletes Joshua Graber and Jeremiah Rose took 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 50 mile race (4500 feet of climbing). Coach Daniel took 12th overall in the 30 mile race (3000 feet of climbing). Well done. Awesome to see so many of our coaches and athletes at the podiums to support our Tigers.

We can all learn a lesson from Joshua. At first, the race director messed up and had Josh on the podium in first and the boy who beat him in second. They gave Joshua a valuable first place prize. I witnessed Josh immediately switching prizes with the other kid as soon as they got off the podium. Pure class.

Three practices this week before we head to Leadville for our first Colorado League high school race on Sunday, August 30th. GO TIGERS!

Tonight’s team practice was on our local Royal Gorge Rumble course. Everyone completed two laps (awesome for this early in the season) and some even did three. Everyone also got a preview of the new warm up loop for this year’s race in October.

Our female riders make up a significant part of our team and contribute greatly to our team’s overall scoring points at races. Tonight’s post is for the girls. 😊

We are excited to announce that, for a second year in a row, Tiger Mountain Biking is hosting this year's fundraiser at Point Alta Vista and our new race course at the Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort on Friday, August 21st! Annnnnd we're up & running! Riding, that is! Our Tiger Mountain Bikers showed up ready to ride this morning. Everyone appreciated the cooler temps as they pushed through their baseline time trial. Then a few skills at the park were in order. It was a solid start to our season, and we're very much looking forward to seeing what everyone can accomplish in the weeks and months to come. 🚴🏻
