Wow, what a weekend for both boys! They first competed with their karts in the Soap Box Derby in Canasaraga, NY. Despite having to remove their engines and some fancy arrangements of tires, both Casen and Sawyer coasted their way to first place in both age groups. After putting the karts back together, we headed straight to Allegheny Memorial Speedway for a double-header race night. Sawyer took to the track first, starting second and finished second. Next, Casen took to the track for his first heat, started sixth, suffered some engine issues, and finished fifth. Next up was Sawyer's first feature of the evening; he started second, took the lead, and held on to finish first, scoring his first feature win in kart racing!!! Then it was Casen's turn to run his first feature of the evening; he started fifth, shot to first place, and stayed there, scoring his third win of the season. After a brief break and adjustments, Sawyer headed back onto the track for his second heat, started second, and finished second. Next was Casen's second heat; he started sixth and went straight to the front to win. Then it was Sawyer's turn again for his second feature race; he started second and finished second despite his best efforts. Casen headed out on the track for his second and final race, started first, and stayed out front until his drive chain gave up with one lap to go, resulting in a sixth-place finish. On Sunday morning, we decided the boys and karts were just plain tired, so we didn't make it to KB Speedway; instead, we went fishing and swimming.
And a huge shout out to all our sponsors and supporters - none of this would be possible without your support.
