WINNER WINNER NUMBER FOUR!!!!

Hunter Wellman parked his 2023 Slack Karts, Performance Mfg. Pursuit in victory lane in the Predator 400 class at Slippery Rock Raceway Inc.!

Full day rundown:

CLONE 400:

Heat: 3rd to 5th (of 5) (DNF)
Feature: 5th to 3rd (of 5)

PREDATOR 400:

Heat: 1st to 1st (of 2)
Feature: 1st to 1st (of 2) (led 15 laps)

Today was definitely interesting! We had too high of a gear in the clone heat and pulled off to avoid blowing our engine. In the predator heat, our throttle stuck wide open the whole race.

Just as we were getting off the track, a storm passed by and soaked the racing surface. With another storm coming just behind, the decision was made to cut the second heat and go straight to the feature. We would pass half the field in clone and lead every lap in the predator!

Update after Naugle Speedway:

CLONE 425
Qualifying: After breaking a pull cord and missing our qualifying group, we qualified 10th of 12

Feature Race:
11th to 6th (of 12)

We learned a lot last night! We were fighting understeer in hot laps and qualifying. Gene Taylor gave us some expert advice, and we were able to turn our whole night around! We fell to the back early, and passed nearly half the field before running out of laps.

HUGE HUGE THANK YOU TO KEVIN REICHEL!!! Kevin sprinted to his pit after we broke our pull chord, and got us on track in time to qualify! Kevin helped us turn our night around on one of the biggest stages we have raced his season!

We’re heading to “The Bullring” Naugle Speedway for the WPKS Battle of the Three Rivers! Hunter Wellman will be racing his 64W Slack Pursuit in the Clone 425 class!

This will be one of our busiest weekends of the year! We will be returning to one of our favorite tracks on Friday, chasing $1000 on Saturday, and chasing a championship Sunday!

CLONE 400:

Pulled the #29 pill
Heat Race: 7th to 4th (of 8 )
Feature Race: 4th to 2nd (of 8 ) (led 1 lap)

Our Slack Karts, Performance Mfg. Pursuit was ON. A. RAIL! We quickly made up positions in the heat, and put ourselves in a good starting spot for the feature. We fought our way to the front, and led until a caution came out. We fell to 3rd but made our way back to 2nd!

Tonight’s race solidified us in 3rd for the season standings! We are super pumped to be on the podium for this season!

Heat Race: 2nd to 1st (of 5) (led 9 laps)
Feature Race: 1st to 3rd (of 5) (led 5 laps)

Our Slack Karts, Performance Mfg. Pursuit had loads of speed today! We made a pass for the lead on lap 1 and led until a caution came out. Around lap 5 or 6 our throttle broke loose, however we were still able to hold on for the heat race win!

In the feature, we led the opening laps until Jeff Davis passed us. We held on to 2nd for as long as we could, but Josh Barger passed us on the last lap. We are four points away from 3rd in points with ONE race to go!

Our Slack Karts, Performance Mfg. Pursuit was on a rail! Our driver Hunter Wellman pulled the shortest stick he could in the pill draw but made up for it on track. We were in a dead heat with the 4C of Michael Card and the 797 of Josh Barger all race!

WINNER WINNER NUMBER THREE!

Hunter Wellman parked his Phantom Racing Chassis Scythe in victory lane at Slippery Rock Raceway Inc. in the Predator 400 class!

Full breakdown:

CLONE 400:

Heat 1: 1st to 3rd (of 4)
Heat 2: 4th to 2nd (of 4)
Feature: 2nd to 3rd (of 4)

PREDATOR 400:
We were the only kart to register, so we won both heats and our feature! We ended up joining the Clone 375 class with our predator kart to get some data in.

This race solidifies us as the championship leader in Predator and a contender for the title in Clone!

Next week, we set our sights on the penultimate weekend at Lockhart Raceway, where we are 3 points away from 3rd in Clone 400!
