π₯ Hearty Beef & Rice Skillet Pilaf (Inspired by Uzbek Plov)

This rich and comforting one-pot beef and rice dish is packed with tender beef, sweet carrots, caramelized onions, and aromatic garlic. It's a family-friendly meal that's both satisfying and easy to make.
Ingredients
14 oz (400 g) beef stew meat, cubed
1 large onion, diced
2 carrots, julienned or grated
2 cups long-grain rice, rinsed and soaked
1 tbsp butter
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 whole head of garlic
3 cups hot water
1 tbsp cooking oil
Instructions
1. Heat a little oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
2. Add the beef and cook until browned. Once the meat releases its juices, continue cooking until most of the liquid evaporates.
3. Add about ΒΌ cup water and continue cooking until the beef becomes tender and the liquid is absorbed.
4. Stir in the onions and carrots. Cook until softened and lightly caramelized.
5. Drain the soaked rice and spread it evenly over the meat mixture. Gently press it down without stirring.
6. Place the whole head of garlic in the center of the pot.
7. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
8. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, make several holes through the rice layer.
9. Season with salt and black pepper, then carefully pour the hot water over the rice.
10. Cover with a lid and cook on low heat until the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid.
11. Remove from heat and let rest for 10β15 minutes.
12. Invert onto a serving platter or gently fluff and serve.
