8th in the 1D youth today 🛢️🖤🛢️

Well Dusky Lynn Hall wasn’t here but it’s crazy to think that she competed in this exact same race last year and won 1st place (of course!)
But even crazier to think Juliette and Tomcat were just 0.7 seconds slower then her… 7 places behind a legend…

Sometimes it’s hard to stop and really see the progress she’s made in just a few months. I get to watch her ride and compete every week, so the improvement isn’t always obvious in the moment.

Then I think back to where she was in 2025, or even 2024 and WOW.
This girl has worked so hard. She’s more competitive every time she runs down that alley.

Today she finished 8th in the 1D Youth at the Cornhusker, and I couldn’t be more proud of how far she and Tomcat have come

And she’s only getting started 🖤

2026 was our first year competing at the big barrel races. We started with BBR World Finals in April and got addicted pretty much immediately. Then we went to Run at the Rose in June and had another incredible experience. Juliette pulled big checks at both, making those trips completely worth it.

So when I saw the Cornhusker, I didn’t hesitate. This is what she was meant to do, and I truly believe her future is so bright. The sky is the limit for this girl.

We still love our local barrel races and obviously will keep doing as many as we can, but now that we’ve had a taste of the big national competitions, big crowds and big money… it’s hard to stop!

And getting to compete on the same ground as riders like Dusky Lynn is an honor in itself.

I wasn’t born a barrel racer. I may not have all the knowledge or talent it takes to make her career successful, but I’ll be damned if I don’t have the will and motivation.

I’ll take that girl anywhere if it means she’s going places. She’s on a mission, and I’m just here for the ride. And I get to finally live the travel and camping life I’ve been missing lol the only difference is that I’m also hauling a 1200 lbs puppy with us 🤣

Didn’t pull a check today but can’t really complain when your 23 yo horse land a 2D run in the OPEN at one of the biggest barrel races in the Midwest 😳
We were just over here hoping for a 4D but big boy said I’m feeling way too good mama let’s fly 🔥🔥🔥
Tomorrow we’re coming after the $$$$ though 😉

Saturday was a busy day for us!
Soccer game, then barrel race then bull riding. But as you know me, im not one to pick and choose. We doing it ALLL!! Especially because this race was a breast cancer fundraiser… As a woman who has near a dozen breast cancer history on my mothers side, we had to go!
Juliette and Tomcat landed a nice 1D youth and 3D open run but most importantly, we are so happy with how he’s moving and feeling! It really does take a village, shoutout to my vet Marrott Equine for fixing the issue, my farrier Eric Blevins for getting his feet done and Rocky Mountain Equine for the PEMF treatment! Tomcat is very thankful for you all. And thanks for BarrelWatch for the video!!

Juliette’s very first time doing track racing this weekend and here was her 3/8 mile.

Lioness got to relive her old days of track racing and I could tell her heart was happy!

Unfortunately I don't think barrel racing is what she loves anymore. She did not want to go in at all Friday and Juliette was a second away from being a scratch and that breaks my heart but I think we will finish the series at circle 3 with her and find her a different job. Maybe some more track racing in the future? Idk but we got to make her happy.
After her kissing spine surgery, all the x-rays and vet visits to rule out soreness, ulcer treatments, anxiety supplements and all the little tricks we do to ensure she’s calm, we are out of ideas here.

But I’m glad she got to do this Friday 🙏🏻

Juliette (pink silk) got to try something completely new this weekend at the La Junta kids rodeo! Track racing!!
When I saw the flyer that said “small pony” race, I took it quite literally and found a friend with a pony to borrow. Wellllll… come to find out, “small pony” meant 13 hands and under. So Juliette showed up on Clinger, who was BY FAR the smallest pony in the race! 😂 But let me tell you… little Clinger held her own out there!!

She didn’t come home with the win, but she had an ABSOLUTE BLAST and honestly, that’s what it’s all about! It was so cute and so much fun to watch. Sometimes it’s good to change things up, try something totally different, and just HAVE FUN.

We will definitely be back next year!!

And a HUGE shoutout to Mindy and Kindsey Stevens for letting us borrow Clinger for the weekend! We appreciate you guys so much!
