Can we normalize not ghosting coaches?! 😅🥎
And I say this as BOTH a coach and a former player.
I’ve been the player who needed something different. I had coaches I absolutely loved, but there were times I needed a different voice, a different approach, or just a change. That is OKAY.
If you’re too busy, we’re too pricey, too far, my schedule doesn’t line up with yours, I’m too inconsistent for what you need, we don’t mesh anymore, or you feel like your daughter needs something different… JUST TELL US.
Please quit cutting ties by ghosting coaches who have poured time, effort, energy and LOVE into your kid. We understand that we won’t be everyone’s coach forever. But give us the respect of communicating that.
And just because you go somewhere else doesn’t mean I stop caring about your kid.
I had a player go to another pitching coach for lessons her last two years of high school, and I STILL helped her through the recruiting process and helped her earn an opportunity to play college softball.
Because this has never been about keeping a kid as a “client.”
I genuinely love what I do. I care about these girls. I root for them whether they’re taking lessons from me or not.
So if we’ve run our course, just tell me. I promise I’ll understand.
Just don’t ghost us. Most of us care way too much for that. ❤️🥎
