As I reflect on this past year, it’s amazing to think about how far we’ve come.
What started as a conversation about possibly starting our own softball team slowly began to come together. We came up with a name, Swamp Sirens, and began playing tournaments as a collective at the end of 2025. Behind the scenes, Coach Kaitlyn was working on designing our logo and getting jerseys made, while our treasurer, Carly, worked tirelessly to ensure we became a registered corporation and secured our 501(c)(3) designation.
We began our spring 12U season with more than half of our team still young enough to play 10U. Over the course of the season, we watched these young ladies grow in ways that went far beyond the softball field. We went from losing games because of poor throws and fielding mistakes to winning tournaments and, more importantly, watching their confidence grow.
None of this would have happened without our leader, Coach Jess, and her sidekicks, Coach Joel and Coach Kate who have poured countless hours, energy, and love into these young ladies. Their commitment to helping these girls grow, both as athletes and as young women, is what makes this organization so special.
As we begin our second full season as an organization, we are incredibly proud to have 12 amazing young ladies surrounded by even more amazing families. That part is incredibly important to us. The support, commitment, and encouragement these families provide are a huge part of what makes the Swamp Sirens successful.
But perhaps what makes us most proud as we begin this second season is that we are doing it without having to charge our families team dues.
That is only possible because of the incredible support we have received from our community and our families. Through fundraising and the generosity of those who believe in what we are building, we have been able to put our organization in a position to provide these girls with an amazing softball experience without placing that financial burden on their families.
We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who has donated, sponsored, volunteered, supported, or simply cheered us on. Without our community backing the Swamp Sirens, none of this would be possible.
We are beyond grateful.
Now it’s time to see just how far these 12 young ladies can take this thing. 🩷🐊🥎
