We smash our wheels to save yours 🔨💥

Here are two problems with foam inserts:

1. Snakebites. Pull your foam insert out of your tire and you’ll find little punctures where the insert has been cut by the sharp rim fl**ge. With some tires, this might even mean a puncture or pinch straight through the foam.

2. More importantly, foam takes away precious air volume in your tire and replaces it with a not-so-precious draggy and dead feeling. In order to roll fast and behave naturally, tires need their air volume. Plus, foam pressing against the sidewalls or ground saps energy from whatever is propelling you, whether that’s gravity or your legs.

We make an easy to install bottom-out bumper for your rim and tire. It’s so simple it hurts.

First off, not every product on your bike needs to come from a massive warehouse ‼️
While you’d think mountain bikers would be the type to stand by small businesses, riders are consistently swayed by big brand marketing. That’s just the reality. We’re a small team (hint: fewer people than a World Cup podium) located in Richmond, VT. While we can’t ship 100 orders in a day or sponsor Richie Rude, we can make sure every single Rim Saver is properly assembled, packed, and spoken for. And if it isn’t, you’ll have no problem finding us.

2. More is not always better. 🚫
Actually, time seems to show that refinement almost always leads to more minimalist products. Remember OtterBox phone cases? Those things were massive. As cases were refined over the years, they’ve gotten slimmer and slimmer. We think tire inserts are heading in the same direction. In fact, most already have.

3. Just like a good phone case, Rim Saver is essentially a stiff spring. If foam inserts are one big, soft spring, Rim Saver is a smaller, stiffer spring. The result? Protection without making your bike feel sluggish or draggy. We’d rather keep the ride feeling quick, natural, and familiar than throw more material at the problem.

3. Price 💵
Back to #1... Without a giant factory or an optimized production setup, it’s hard to get prices down to the numbers people like seeing. Honestly though, we don’t think that should be the only thing people compare.
When you buy a Rim Saver, you’re getting our unique approach to rim protection, a legitimate 60-day money back guarantee (seriously, if you don’t like it, send it back), rider support from actual riders (it’s not like our inbox is overflowing), and the satisfaction of supporting a real grassroots U.S. cycling business. Not to mention, you won’t be wishing for a proprietary tire tool when installing RS.

Could we make it cheaper? Probably. Would it still be the same company? Probably not.

What they don’t tell you about foam inserts 🤷‍♂️

There’s hundreds of pounds of force being put on your bikes tire and wheel… a piece of foam can’t always handle that properly. When faced with sharp impacts, the snakebites in your insert demonstrate how the force goes straight through the material, into your rim.

While Rim Saver is lower volume, it’s much stiffer. Think of it like suspension spring rates. Foam blows through its travel on sharp impacts, While Rim Saver holds up and helps dissipate the force, therefore saving your rims.

OtterBoxes are out of style.

Like most products, phone cases went from maximum protection to just enough. Overdesign eventually gives way to realistic minimalism.

Stay safe out there soldier 🫡

Same applies for dings in aluminum rims. We set out to make a line of defense that didn’t sacrifice convenience or rolling speed - just rim protection, nothing else.
