Mount Olive Fall Ball 14U had a strong showing Saturday at Russ Nagle Field, falling 8-2 to Upper Deck Elite “New 14s” in the first game before bouncing back with an impressive 8-1 victory in the second game.
Anthony Romano earned the win, allowing just two hits and one unearned run over five innings while striking out five and walking three.
Offensively, Nate Coulote and Ethan Endriga each collected two hits. Endriga and Derek Figueira each drove in two runs. Mount Olive also played clean defense, turning a double play and committing no errors. Coulote led the team defensively with five plays.
Andrew Walters started on the mound and delivered four innings, allowing five hits and four runs—three earned—while striking out five and walking one. At the plate, Ethan Endriga drove in Mount Olive’s lone run, while Nate Coulote collected the team’s only hit, going 1-for-3. Bryce Pieklo drew two walks, and Mount Olive showed patience throughout the game, drawing eight walks.
Despite splitting the doubleheader, Mount Olive Fall Ball 14U showed strong pitching, timely hitting, disciplined at-bats and solid defense throughout the day.
