Mt. Olive 12u Red battled their way to a 1-2 finish at the South Plainfield Field of Screams Tournament.

Allison Genao continued to hit the ball hard, collecting 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Kylie Huber, Maddie Steel, and Whitney Flood each collected a pair of singles, including 2 RBIs for Flood. Morgan Belfiore, Riley Osoria, and Morgan Friedrich earned a basehit each. Zoe Wroblewski put the ball in play to drive in a run, and patience at the plate for Braelynn Furman and Teagan Callahan produced two more runs for MO. Steel got down and dirty collecting a team high 5 stolen bases on the day.

Short six players due to conflict and injury, the Marauders defense showed heart and flexibility. Belfiore pitched 10 innings striking out 7 and only walked 3. Furman collected a pair of strikeouts and Flood only surrendered 1 run in her relief appearance. Genao, Furman, and Callahan ran their hearts out splitting outfield duties two fielders at a time. Wroblewski and Osoria held it down behind the dish, including two caught stealing. The GameChanger stats are suspect, but other notable highlights include a diving catch at short for Flood, a quick liner grab for Callahan during her 3rd base debut, and several heads up plays around the infield for Belfiore, Steel, and Friedrich. A wild relay initiated by Huber caught a runner at home, and Genao saved a run with a stellar catch in center.

The Marauders took some lumps, but they also took home first place in the costume contest! A big thank you to our MO families that once again took care of our team in a myriad of ways, and to the Floods and Osorias for having our backs-we quite literally couldn’t have played without you.

9U Marauders Close Out the Regular Season with a Comeback Win!

The 9U Marauders wrapped up a tough fall regular season with a weekend that showed exactly what this team is made of.

Saturday at Montville (L 14-9)
On a chilly morning with temps around 40 degrees (and wind chills in the low 30s), the Marauders fell behind early against a tough Mustangs lineup. But they didn’t back down. Patient at-bats led to key walks from Benji Loiacono, Nick Kooger and Brendan Johnston, and timely hits came from Landon DeFilippis, Jack Ottoson, Zach Haas and Sammy Meudt, who also drove in two runs. Carson Koch sparked a big rally with a bases-clearing line drive up the middle, and Mason Piniero was steady behind the plate. Haas came on in relief to get key outs. Koch earned game ball honors for his pitching and bat.

Sunday at Denville (W 15-9)
Down 9-0 after two innings, the Marauders refused to quit. Jack Bober came in and quieted the Dragons’ bats, while Kooger, Loiacono, Johnston, Haas, and DeFilippis kept getting on base. Meudt played a stellar first base, and Piniero, Koch, Johnston and Bober all had multiple RBIs. Jack “Otto” Ottoson opened the game up with a rope RBI double to left to put the Marauders up 10-9, and they never looked back, adding five more runs. Koch came in relief and shut the door in the final inning. Game balls went to Bober for his pitching and big day at the plate, and to Ottoson for the offensive punch that flipped the game.

It’s been a challenging fall, but these boys have grown closer, learned a ton and become smarter, better ballplayers. Now it’s on to the playoffs. Let’s make some noise!

Marauders and Bears Share More Than a Doubleheader

Some days the scoreboard is only part of the story.

On October 18, 2026, Mount Olive Marauders 12U baseball traveled to face the West Milford Bears 12U for a doubleheader. Before the first pitch, the Bears — led by Coach Dave and his staff — did something that meant far more than any result on the field. They presented Marauders player Gavin Cianci with a DICK'S Sporting Goods gift card, a gesture made with full knowledge of what Gavin has been carrying: the recent and tragic loss of his father, coming a couple of years after the loss of his mother.

The Marauders organization, its players and families want to say plainly what that moment meant. Coach Dave and his staff, and every West Milford player and family member who had a hand in it, showed exactly what youth sports at its best looks like — young people and coaches who notice one of their own, and who choose kindness without being asked. There was no spotlight sought and no credit needed. That is precisely what made it so meaningful, and it is something Mount Olive will not forget.

To Coach Dave: thank you. To the Bears staff and players: thank you. What you did for Gavin says more about your program than any win ever could.

The baseball, for the record, was as good as the sportsmanship. Mount Olive took game one, 14–13, holding off a six-run West Milford rally in the fifth. Cooper Echevarria went 3-for-3 with a double and Peter Caravella drove in three; Mount Olive finished with 12 hits to the Bears' 15. Game two went to West Milford, 9–7, splitting the doubleheader. Mount Olive's six-run first inning was powered in part by Gavin's two-run double, with Gavin and Jonathan Petersen each driving in two. Patrick Neary showed tremendous toughness and played catcher both games. On to the playoffs!

Two teams, two games, one shared win that had nothing to do with the score. Thank you, West Milford.

MARAUDERS 10U | WEEKEND RECAP

Three games, two hard-fought battles, and a big win to close out the regular season!

SATURDAY VS. CHESTER MENDHAM | L 10–8

The Marauders built an early 5–1 lead behind big hits from Nico Wijatyk, Oliver Atwater, Michael Hill, and Max Arlauskas. Max drove in three runs, while Ben Belfiore battled through 3⅓ innings on the mound. Eric Prieto showed patience at the plate with two walks, but Chester’s late rally proved too much.

SATURDAY VS. KINNELON | L 6–5

Another nail-biter! Nico delivered a two-run double, while Mateo Rivera and Emerson McNamara combined for six strikeouts on the mound. Jack Nicholl drew two walks, and Vincent Romano helped spark the late comeback with aggressive baserunning. The boys rallied for three runs in the fifth but fell just short.

SUNDAY VS. RAWLINGS TIGERS | W 10–4

The boys saved their best for last! A five-run third inning broke things open. Jack and Oliver each collected two hits, while Gabriel Maddison drove in two runs and ripped a triple. Max Arlauskas helped fuel the offense, and Michael Orzillo worked two walks to keep the pressure on. Oliver struck out seven, Jack closed it out on the mound, and the Marauders stole 17 bases while playing error-free defense!

REGULAR SEASON COMPLETE. PLAYOFFS UP NEXT!

This weekend summed up our season: battling through adversity, refusing to quit, and continuing to improve. I’m proud of the growth, effort, and determination these boys have shown all fall. The record doesn’t tell the whole story, and this team isn’t finished yet.

Playoffs start next week. Time to get back to work!

t. Olive 12u Red finished 2nd place in the Jefferson Fall League Championship!

Elianna Sprague dealt a NO HITTER shutout against Lenape in the semifinals. Ella Wijatyk led the offensive charge, driving in 4 runs on 3 hits including a triple. Sprague blasted an RBI triple, subsequently scoring herself after a victorious pickle. Morgan Belfiore batted an RBI single, and Allison Genao stayed hot going 2-3 for another run. Morgan Friedrich batted 1.000. Zoe Wroblewski and Brynn Backman each earned a base hit. The Marauders sealed the W 11-0.

In the finals, the Cobras left MO trailing through the 6th despite solid defense. Sprague collected 8 strikeouts, 3 assists, and a pair of flyouts. Backman put 5 away at first, and Wroblewski gobbled up a flyout and initiated a 6-3 doubleplay. The Marauders’ struggled to get it going at the plate, only scoring 1 run in the fourth after Wijatyk doubled on a flyball to center, scoring Wroblewski who tripled on a frozen rope.

Headed into the bottom of the sixth down by 5, Mt. Olive came alive and decided to really stress out their fans with a 4-run rally! Kylie Huber led with a walk and stole her way to third. Wroblewski, Wijatyk, and Sprague drove in 3 off three consecutive doubles. Belfiore kept the momentum going with a walk, and Sprague took advantage of an error, crashing home. Mt. Olive was down to their final out, down by one. Despite an epic rally, the Marauders couldn’t push the run across, falling to the Cobras 6-5.

12u Red finished 11-2. There were lots of wins, lots of laughs, and lots of loud crazy cheers. IYKYK. Thank you to everyone that made this season a success!

Mt. Olive 12u Red punched their ticket to the semifinals with a 13-2 victory over Vernon Vikings White.

The offense cooked, producing 8 hits and drawing 7 walks. Brynn Backman went 2-2 driving in a run. Zoe Wroblewski blasted an RBI triple and scored a run on a sac fly. Morgan Belfiore and Kylie Huber each batted a single combining for 3 runs. Maddie Steel collected a basehit. Allison Genao was robbed of a smoked ball up the 3rd base line. Patience at the plate landed Braelynn Furman with 1.000 on base percentage and Morgan Friedrich with 2 walks putting her in position to score twice. In addition to an RBI single, Ella Wijatyk shut down the game in dramatic fashion with a 2-run homer.

Belfiore started in the circle, surrendering only 2 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 5. Elianna Sprague closed, striking out the side. Belfiore and Sprague didn’t just hurl, they also contributed 2 assists and a flyout. Backman and Friedrich put away 2 each at first with notably consistent backups from Teagan Callahan keeping those base runners honest. Let’s not forget Injured McInjurson: Izzy Stoltz, showing up in solidarity every game.

The road to the championship continues this Saturday in Jefferson. Stay tuned for details!
