***Message from the Campus Athletic Coordinator***
Johnson Jaguar Family,
Today we are sharing information regarding a new Hays CISD Athletic Participation Fee for the 2026-2027 school year. We understand this represents a significant change for our student-athletes and families, and we want to provide as much clarity as possible.
First and foremost, this decision was considered a last resort. Over the past several years, athletic budgets across the district have been reduced annually, while the costs associated with equipment, transportation, officials, and operational needs have continued to increase. This fee is intended solely to help offset the financial restraints currently facing our district and maintain the quality athletic opportunities our students deserve.
We do not want this fee to become a reason for any student to stop participating in athletics. At Johnson High School, we firmly believe in the value of educational athletics and the positive impact sports have on young people. Families facing financial challenges are encouraged to communicate with us, as there will be multiple payment options and payment plans available. Special circumstances will continue to be reviewed on an individual basis.
A few important reminders:
• All student-athletes should expect to pay the fee associated with their primary sport.
• Payment systems will be available in the near future through Hometown Ticketing.
• Questions regarding Hometown Ticketing or payment processing should be directed to [email protected].

• Athletic participation fees do not replace existing sport-specific fundraising efforts or other participation expenses.
• Playing time will continue to function exactly as it has in previous years.
• All student-athlete families are required to pay the participation fee including families of Hays CISD Coaches and staff.
Please Note: Participation fee payment does not guarantee playing time, roster status, or position. Playing time decisions remain at the discretion of Johnson High School coaches and will continue to be based on the standards and expectations of each program.
We recognize that this change may generate questions, and we are committed to being transparent throughout the process. Thank you for your continued support of Johnson High School Athletics and the opportunities we provide for our student-athletes.
