If you think practice is boring, it’s usually because you’re not fully invested in what you’re doing. Real competitors find purpose in the details—the footwork, the repetition, the corrections, the small improvements nobody else notices. That’s where confidence actually comes from.

A lot of players only enjoy the spotlight, the games, the attention… but don’t fall in love with the preparation. That’s backwards. The game rewards what you’ve done in the dark. If you can’t lock in during practice, don’t expect to shine when it counts.

The truth is simple—practice isn’t boring, it’s just exposing your discipline. And the ones who embrace it are usually the ones who never have to worry about sitting on the bench.

Most young hitters are unaware of the importance of having a Two-Strike Identity.

When you have two strikes on you, it’s not the end of the at-bat. It’s not the time to panic.

It is a completely different at-bat. It’s time to battle.

It’s what I call the Second At-Bat

Different rhythm. Different mental posture. Different definition of a good pitch. Different relationship with the strike zone entirely.

The hitter who understands that, and learns how to be a terribly tough out with two strikes is a very valuable asset to any lineup.
