Jikishinkan Aikido Dojo A non-profit organization dedicated to teaching Aikido and Zen meditation since 1985. We have a Youth program for ages 6-13 and an Adult program.

Jikishinkan ("Direct Mind") Aikido dojo is a non-profit 501c3 organization devoted to the teaching and practice of Aikido, a powerful yet compassionate martial art and spiritual discipline where control is achieved through blending with, rather than confronting the energy of the attack. Originally founded by the late Joseph Jarman Sensei, the dojo operates under the direction of Stewart Johnson Se

nsei, Godan (fifth degree black belt) in Aikido. Our instructors provide a high level of care and attention to every member regardless of their age or rank. Beginners are always welcome. Jikishinkan Dojo has been in continuous operation in Brooklyn since 1985.

Jikishinkan Dojo would like to thank Greg Noble Sensei for his instruction at the Zenshinkai Aikido Association seminar last weekend in Alexandria Virginia. Special thanks to Alison Lincoln Sensei for hosting the event at the brand new Ryushinkan dojo location. Also huge congratulations to Brody Sensei and Lloyd Sensei on their promotions.

Joseph Jarman (September 14, 1937 - January 9, 2019), founder of Brooklyn Buddhist Association and Jikishinkan Dojo, would have been 86 years old today. Sensei Jarman left a rich and wonderful legacy that includes music, Buddhism, and Aikido. Jikishinkan Dojo continues to teach Zazen and Aikido with the spirit of compassion he imbued in his students. Many of his students have gone on to run their own dojos and pass on the wonderful art he taught us.
