You see a kid on a dirt bike and thinkā¦
āHow cute.ā
āA fun little hobby.ā
āSomething to pass the time.ā
You see a dad/grandpa working on the bike in the pits and thinkā¦
āJust tinkering.ā
āJust racing.ā
You see a mom/ grandma in the stands, filming, cheering, packing snacks and thinkā¦
āJust watching.ā
But what you donāt see is everything behind it.
You donāt see the late nights in the garage
when everyone else is inside⦠prepping bikes then double and triple checking for safety and price of mind!
You donāt see the money quietly shuffled around
to make sure tires get replaced, parts get ordered, entry fees get paid, truck and trailer is ready to go, fuel for bikes, fuel for the generator, and fuel for the truck to travel.
You donāt see the 4+ hr long drives home
where the truck is quietā¦
because not every race ends the way they hoped.
You donāt see the kid replaying every lap in their head
wondering what they couldāve done better.
Or the parents choosing their words carefullyā¦
because theyāre building a racer
but more importantly, theyāre raising a person.
Because motocross racingā¦
Itās not just laps around a track.
Itās discipline.
Itās heartbreak.
Itās learning how to lose
without losing yourself.
Itās learning how to win
without forgetting who helped you get there.
Itās family dinners eaten out of coolers.
Itās sunburns and sweatshirts in the same day.
Itās a life lived between trailers, tools, and checkered flags.
And those kids?
Theyāre not just racing.
Theyāre learning how to handle pressure.
How to stay focused when everything in you wants to panic.
How to get back out there⦠even after a bad run or a hard get off!
So no⦠itās not ājust a hobby.ā
Itās early mornings.
Itās sacrifices.
Itās everything we donāt post about.
Itās a family sport in every sense of the word.
Because behind every kid on that trackā¦
is a whole crew
who gave up a lot
just to watch them chase it.
And if youāve ever sat in those stands,
heart racing with them every lapā¦
you already know
this life isnāt simple.
But weād choose it
every single time. š
