🏈📣 Upward Sports Season Update! 📣🏈
We had a great meeting as we begin preparing for another exciting season of Upward Flag Football and Cheer! We are so thankful for everyone who continues to support this ministry and the amazing families who make it so special.
Registration will open in October, with practices beginning in January and the season running through late March. This season will be open to children ages 5-12 and will be divided into three age groups:
🏈 Ages 5-6
🏈 Ages 7-9
🏈 Ages 10-12
Last season, we had 75 incredible athletes participate! Practices were held on Wednesdays, but with expected growth this year, we may add a second practice day to help keep evenings shorter for our families.
One thing that makes Upward so special is the incredible team of volunteers who make it all possible. From coaches and parents to concession stand workers and behind-the-scenes helpers, we are truly blessed by so many people who served faithfully during last season.
As our program continues to grow, I have also recruited two awesome people to help lead and support the ministry when I am unable to be there. Please join me in welcoming Mae Casale and Tyler Luckina! They will be helping ensure everything runs smoothly throughout the season. If you ever have questions and either Pastor Lee or I (Stephanie) are unavailable, please feel free to reach out to Mae or Tyler. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and help our Upward family continue to grow.
We are also excited to begin planning some fundraising opportunities, including a kids and adults Dodgeball Tournament this summer! Our goal is to raise funds for cheer mats to provide a safe environment for our cheerleaders as they practice stunts and perform halftime routines. We also hope to create scholarship opportunities for families who may need assistance with registration costs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate.
Looking ahead, we’re also exploring the possibility of offering a full-day summer camp next year filled with sports drills, skill-building, games, and lots of fun!
Most importantly, our mission remains the same: sharing the love of Jesus Christ through sports. Everything we do is centered on helping children and families discover and grow in their relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We are so excited about what God has in store for this upcoming season and can’t wait to see all the athletes, cheerleaders, families, coaches, and volunteers who will be part of it. Stay tuned for more updates as registration approaches!
