🔵⚪️🔵BHS student-athletes had the opportunity to celebrate and announce the next chapter of their athletic careers this afternoon at Commitment Day. Dylan Fitzgerald is committed to wrestle at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he will study electrical engineering. Billy Wood is committed to wrestle at Sussex Community College in Newton, New Jersey to learn to be an electrical lineman. Congratulations Fitzgerald and Wood!🔵⚪️🔵

🔵⚪️🔵Last night legendary Brockport High School Varsity wrestling Coach James Cannon was inducted into the Section V Wrestling Hall of Fame for his years of service and contributions to the sport of wrestling in our area.

At Brockport, Cannon was a social studies teacher for 41 years and coached wrestling at Brockport from 1996-2008, earning 122 Dual meet victories, coaching 15 County Champions, 15 Sectional Champions, 9 NYS Place Finishers and 1 Champion. In addition, he received 3 different Coach of the Year honors at Brockport. Cannon has currently been assistant coaching at RIT for 7 seasons.

Cannon built a legacy of hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and heart. We still recognize Coach Cannnon who gave so much of himself to the sport of wrestling, as does every wrestler fortunate enough to have stood before him on the mat. Congrats Coach, well deserved. 🔵⚪️🔵Congratulations to legendary Brockport High School Varsity wrestling Coach James Cannon. On May 13th, 2026 Coach Cannon will be inducted into the Section V Wrestling Hall of Fame for his years of service and contributions to the sport of wrestling in our area.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Cannon was the head wrestling coach at Grand Rapids Christian High School from 1984-92. He led Grand Rapids Christian to 126 dual wins as well as the school’s only two Grand Rapids City League Championships.

After Brockport, Cannon went on to assistant coach at Fairport where he helped lead the Red Raiders to the 2017 Class AA Section V Championship. In 3 seasons at Fairport, Cannon helped coach a New York State Champion and 3 place winners at the state tournament.
