This is open letter to all baseball fans in general, but mostly to any who may have checked in on this page on occasion; and even more specifically, it is written to and on behalf of any remaining followers of the local adult baseball team known as The Brigham City Peaches. Of course, anyone visiting this page is likely already aware that it was created for the followers of the local team, a ball club which has played this sport for many historic years here in the high-desert climes of Box Elder County, in the northern-most region of the great state of Utah.
As spring blooms and nature explodes with new life in this otherwise quiet and largely agricultural community, the amateur adult baseball collective known as The Northern Utah League is about to begin it's annual summer season for the calendar year of 2016. We are therefore sad to formerly now announce that The Peaches will not be fielding a team to compete for the league's championship for the first time in many, many seasons this year. As a result, Pioneer Park will not be the home field for a NUL team here in Brigham City, Utah this year, where it indeed had been for longer than anyone living in the county can probably remember.
It is sad day for local sports fans, and the quiet end for a historic local tradition, after a recent inspired effort to keep the team alive by the intrepid few* who waged the battle of financial survival over these last few years - simply to provide local ball players the chance to keep playing this simple game which many of them have loved for their entire lives and for those who just enjoyed watching them compete on many a hot summer night in seasons passed - abruptly came to end after last season's schedule was completed. (*You guys know who you are; and thank you so much for all that you did in your efforts to save the team... And of course, all the best to you in the future, as well!)
And lastly, thank you to all of the former players, their families, the team officials and the many who have supported The Brigham City Peaches Baseball Team over these many years.
And with that: For one last time, to the rest of the fans and players of the remaining teams of the NUL:
⚾ "Play Ball!" ⚾️
