Last night, our Brentwood Softball family attended the Suffolk County Softball Coaches Association Award Dinner, celebrating four student-athletes whose dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the game earned them recognition among Suffolk County’s finest.

We are proud to recognize the Brentwood athletes who were honored:

🏅 Jerellin Bello — All-Division
🏅 Janiyah Torres — All-Division
🏅 Kaylee Bonilla — All-League
🏅 Lily Vittorato — All-League

These young women represented Brentwood with pride, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the season. Their accomplishments reflect the strength of our program and the positive impact they have made as teammates, competitors, and leaders.

💚 Brentwood Athletics is proud to announce our 2026 Sportsmanship Athletes of the Year: Janessa Love and Herson Flores. 💚

The Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year award recognizes student-athletes who compete with integrity, lead with respect, and consistently demonstrate the values that define educational athletics. Through their actions, Janessa and Herson have shown that how you compete is just as important as the outcome.

🏐🏀 Janessa Love has represented Brentwood with enthusiasm, humility, and heart. Whether on the volleyball court in the fall or the basketball court in the winter, she has been a supportive teammate, a fierce competitor, and a positive presence for those around her. Janessa’s character, leadership, and respect for the game have made a lasting impact on her teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials alike.

🏈🥍 Herson Flores has exemplified sportsmanship through his dedication and respect in both football and lacrosse. He has consistently led by example, competing with passion while displaying the composure, accountability, and team-first mindset that define true leadership. 💚 Brentwood Athletics is proud to announce our 2026 Scholar Athletes of the Year: Alexa Chaparro and Tyler Seyda. 💚

The Scholar Athlete of the Year award recognizes student-athletes who exemplify excellence in the classroom while demonstrating outstanding dedication, leadership, and commitment through athletics.

🏃‍♀️ Alexa Chaparro has distinguished herself as a three-season athlete, competing in Cross Country in the fall, Indoor Track in the winter, and Outdoor Track in the spring. Her consistency, discipline, and leadership have made a lasting impact on her teammates and coaches, serving as an example of what can be achieved through hard work and perseverance.

🏈🤼‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Tyler Seyda has also excelled as a three-season athlete, competing in Football in the fall, Wrestling in the winter, and Track in the spring. Congratulations to Gabriella Asare on an incredible performance at the New York State Track & Field Championships this weekend.

Gabriella earned 3rd place in the 100-meter hurdles at the New York State Championships and 4th place in the Federation race, finishing among the top athletes in New York.
We are extremely proud of Gabriella’s hard work, dedication, and commitment throughout her senior season. Her accomplishments are a reflection of the countless hours she has invested in her sport and the pride with which she represents Brentwood Athletics.

We would also like to recognize Claire Matthews for qualifying and competing this weekend. Reaching this stage of competition is an outstanding achievement and a testament to her talent and determination.

A special thank you goes out to our coaching staff for their dedication, guidance, and support throughout the season. Their commitment has helped our student-athletes achieve success at the highest level.

It was a truly special afternoon as our Athletic Department, administration, coaches, student-athletes and Athletic Director, Mr. Steven Davis, came together for our Senior Recognition Lunch to celebrate the Class of 2026.

The luncheon gave our seniors the opportunity to enjoy the company of one another, surrounded by teammates, coaches, administrators, and representatives from every athletic program. It was a meaningful way to recognize the dedication, hard work, and pride they have brought to Brentwood Athletics throughout their high school careers.

To our seniors, thank you for your leadership, passion, and commitment. You have represented Brentwood with pride and have left a mark that will inspire future generations. No matter where life takes you next, you will always be a part of the Brentwood Athletics family.

We wish the Class of 2026 continued success, endless growth, and the courage to pursue every dream with the same determination they showed here at Brentwood. Congratulations, seniors. We cannot wait to see all that you accomplish.

Celebrating Brentwood’s Spring Student-Athletes of the Week

The Athletics Department recently hosted a luncheon honoring our Spring Student-Athletes of the Week. Following the school day, these outstanding student-athletes gathered with district administration and members of the senior class to celebrate their achievements and positive impact on the Brentwood community.

Each honoree embodied the meaning of WIN: What’s Important Now, demonstrating that success is built through dedication, character, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

Mr. Steven Davis, Brentwood’s Athletic Director, reminded the students that their contributions extended far beyond scores and statistics. Through their leadership and daily actions, they made their teams better and brought out the best in those around them.

Congratulations to all of our Spring Student-Athletes of the Week. Thank you for leading by example and continuing to make Brentwood proud.

🔥 Join the Boys JV Volleyball Team

Calling all student-athletes interested in joining the Brentwood Boys JV Volleyball program! Summer training sessions begin Tuesday, July 7 and will be held every Tuesday from 7:00–9:00 PM at North Middle School.

These open gym sessions are a great opportunity to develop your skills, meet teammates, and prepare for the upcoming season. All athletes entering grades 9–11 are encouraged to attend (returning seniors are also welcome).

A huge congratulations to all of our Brentwood Track & Field student-athletes who competed at the Suffolk County State Qualifying Meet and represented Brentwood with pride, determination, and excellence.

Leading the way was Gabriella Asare, who captured County Championships in both the 100m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles, earning her place among Suffolk County’s best.

We also celebrate several outstanding performances:
⭐ Shakur Beavers – 7th Place in the 200m and 4th Place in the High Jump
⭐ Brandon Salazar – 4th Place in the 3200m Run
⭐ Claire Matthews – 5th Place in the 100m and 4th Place in the 200m

To every Brentwood athlete who competed this season, thank you for your dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Your hard work throughout the year has been inspiring, and you continue to make our school community proud.
