🏆 GSF MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP 🏆

Mateo “Chacho” Peterson vs Canaan Frederick

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Kameron “Reaper” Sheets will no longer be able to compete in the GSF 5 Main Event.

The Middleweight Championship will still be decided on August 22.

Stepping into the title match is Canaan Frederick, a brown belt who has spent the last seven years immersed in Jiu-Jitsu as both a competitor and coach.

Frederick began training in 2019 and has developed his game under coaches including Tim Credeur, Jules Bruchez, Josh Artigue, and Heath Henry.

Today, he is building Basin Jiu-Jitsu in Breaux Bridge alongside his brother Caleb and his wife Sophia, bringing a new academy into a title fight on one of the biggest stages in the region.

Waiting for him is Mateo “Chacho” Peterson, whose rise through GSF has included a rear-naked choke victory over a brown belt at GSF 3 and a Match of the Night decision win over an experienced black belt at GSF 4.

Chacho represents Grapple House, one of the most established competition teams under the GSF banner.

Frederick represents Basin Jiu-Jitsu, a new gym looking to make an immediate statement.

Will another GSF title make its way back to Grapple House?

Or will Basin Jiu-Jitsu crown its first champion and announce itself to the region in a major way?

On August 22, we find out.
