We finally started watching Ted Lasso last night and the only thing more wholesome and heart warming than that show is watching it in the company of and hearing her giggles. 🄹

Happy 31st !🄲🄳

It's hard to believe we have two DECADES of friendship under our belts.

20 years later and here we still are - listening to and laughing at each others rants, sharing our inner worlds and fears, supporting each other as we navigate challenges, and always saying the hard things (like the hard hard things...).

I am so grateful that we have grown with each other, especially as you navigate this new phase of life as a mother. It has been so inspiring to see you step into motherhood and see the amazing, loving marriage and family that you and Stephen have created.

If we went back in time and told our Little League 6th grade selves where we'd be today - I think they would be pretty damn proud of ourselves, each other, and our partners.

ILYSM - thank you for always believing in your weird best friend and spreading your contagious giggle šŸ¤—

I missed day 8 yesterday in my posting challenge and I didn’t want to miss twice. So I started writing a caption just now about how and I had a lovely weekend celebrating and in New Hampshire šŸ„³šŸ’

And how we made sure to (or as and I say) with nourishing ourselves on the road and making time for work but I think the best thing I can do right now is ~compassionately~ put myself to bed. And come back tomorrow with a much needed good nights sleep, more emotional resilience, and a bit more eloquence when writing and editing.

Tonight’s call to action is to have some wonderful and sweet dreams. šŸ˜‹šŸ˜“

I’m sick and tired of nutrition coaching 🤯

Because honestly, it’s not that complicated - it comes down to not eating like an as***le šŸ˜‰

For me and my clients what that means is understanding basic nutrition science coupled with:

šŸ‘‰šŸ½ Removing morality around food
Eliminating restrictions because all foods fit
šŸ‘‰šŸ½Being prepared and eating consistently
šŸ‘‰šŸ½Honoring your hunger

If you truly focus on the way you feel, you’ll start to see results, but most importantly you will FEEL your mental bandwidth free up to focus on the rest of your life. šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Imagine yourself waking up and your first thought NOT being about food… or grabbing a snack WITHOUT second guessing yourself - that’s what happens when you free up your headspace for the most important things in your life

And remember that just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it’s easy, but when you try your best and practice self-compassion, I promise you you will feel better than ever

My clients follow this approach, and when they do, they ALWAYS see results

Perfectionism is killing your progress…

Perfectionism is keeping you in an all-or-nothing mindset, keeping you from tackling small goals and microhabits and keeping you stuck in a vicious cycle of not doing something at all because it’s not perfect

šŸ‘‰šŸ½It doesn’t matter how much you want to change

šŸ‘‰šŸ½There’s no such thing as perfect change

šŸ‘‰šŸ½Dropping perfectionism and compassionately looking at where perfectionism is getting in the way will leave room for you to actually make the progress that you desire

This is something I work on with all of my clients inside of my high performance habit coaching program

Wanna learn how to finally kick perfectionism to the curb? Send me a DM. August gets to be different šŸ™šŸ¼

It’s time for us all to take radical responsibility for ourselves and to have those tough conversations. It’s time for us to learn how to have those conversations with ourselves that are simultaneously compassionate and gritty.

The reality?

We can do hard things.

Let’s do them together. Lucy and I will be teaching you how to do exactly this inside of the Spark workshop July 21-22.

The most successful people are compassionately gritty.

The grit comes from doing the things you don’t necessarily want to do, but you know will help you to achieve all of the goals that you’ve set for yourself.

This has come up in my life most recently in terms of my environment. I know that I need to have an environment that’s clean and supports creativity.

Not taking 5 minutes every night to get my work space clear and clean? It’s not gonna cut it.

I had to have a conversation with myself to realize that the microhabits I used to prioritize aren’t necessarily fun.. But they are supporting my ability to live life in alignment with my goals and who I want to be.

That conversation had to have grit. I had to be honest with myself. I had to give myself tough love. And I had to recognize that I’ve been transitioning into a new place (literally and figuratively) in my life which requires kindness towards myself.

The more I think about this, the more I realize that the people I look up to are doing the same things. They’re their biggest inner allies, but they’re building sustainable high-performance habits by doing the small actions every day.

Funny how it works sometimes…

I will be so afraid to take action because I’m afraid to fail. So of course I don’t take action, or even worse, I repeat actions that I KNOW move me further from my goals.

I am actively creating the failure I am so afraid of in the first place.

Then it gets harder and harder to take action because the to-do’s pile up. I tell myself I’ll delegate when I ā€œcatch up.ā€ Or post when I ā€œfeel more on top of things.ā€

And the cycle continues.

This is a reminder to myself that working on the all-or-nothing mindset is always a work in progress.

Healing, growth, progress - whatever you want to call it - will ebb and flow.

You may relapse. You may binge. You may do the thing you said you’d never do again.

And that’s okay.

If you need a little guidance to get past the fear like I do, checkout and I’s two day workshop next week to spark compassionate transformation and change. We will lead you through tuning in to your inner voice to find your motivation and help you tap into habit change that actually feels good. Link in my bio!

3 super simple ways I've been infusing fun into this week:

🌲 Working on my phone habits
To make it more fun I have an app that allows me to plant fake trees to get points and eventually create a forest… BUT if you use your phone too often your tree will die

šŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Mini movement breaks
I time myself for anywhere from 2-20 minutes and take a break to stretch, play with a hacky sack, skate, walk, SOMETHING that makes my body feel good

šŸ“š Read more fiction
I often feel like professional development books are the only thing I should read when I have time, but when I’m ready to unwind at night, it’s fiction novels that allow me to relax and have fun
