I have no 🍑.
Not like, "it just needs a little work."
I mean none.
Flat. The bane of my existence for 53 years.
It's genetic.
My dad needed a belt to keep his pants up. The man had absolutely nothing back there. Flat as a pancake.
So when my hips started killing me a couple of years ago and a sports chiropractor told me my glutes were weak, I knew it was time to make a change.
Squats never really built my glutes, no matter how hard I trained.
So I started hip thrusting like my life depended on it.
Because honestly, it kind of does.
Your glutes are the largest muscle group in your body. They help support your hips, knees, and lower back. Strong glutes improve balance, stability, power, and mobility. They help reduce injury risk and help preserve independence as we age.
So I got to work.
Hip thrusts.
Glute bridges.
Deadlifts.
Romanian deadlifts.
Split squats.
Abductor work.
Adductor work.
Heavy.
Consistent.
Again and again and again.
Today, my hip thrust PR is 300 pounds for reps.
Trust me, nobody is more shocked than the girl who spent most of her life convinced she simply wasn't built to have glutes.
And I'm not going to tell you I have a phat 🍑 because I don't.
But it's a whole lot better than it was two years ago.
It's stronger.
Rounder.
More functional.
And most importantly, my hips don't hurt anymore.
The lesson?
Most people quit before the results show up.
Building muscle takes time.
Changing your body takes time.
Aging well takes time.
But if you stay patient and keep showing up, the payoff is so much bigger than aesthetics.
It's bone density.
It's strength.
It's confidence.
It's being able to hike mountains, carry your own luggage, get up off the floor, and get off the toilet by yourself at 80.
I'm not done yet.
Check back at 55. I may be rocking those b***y leggings after all.
Patience plus hard work pays off.
Not just in how you look.
In how you live.
