The Common Good: The Common Good of the UCF has historically been a PUBLIC SPACE to experiment in living well. The Common Good was a community center where students and community members meet to create and participate in projects and programs to improve themselves and the community. All individuals who had ideas and values in service of that vision were welcome to come in and help us turn those thoughts into actions.
In 2018, The Common Good closed it’s public location, and we have shifted this vision from being carried out with a physical location, to one which financially supports community members and students with grants and scholarships who desire to carry out this mission in their own unique way. We look to empower individuals and groups to become the best version of themselves, through the exploration and experimentation of how they can make this world a better place to live in. We believe that every person has their own special work in this world, that which makes them feel alive, happy, and filled with purpose. In the past, The Common Good has supported individuals in starting a small community garden, creating a community group centered around acceptance, going to school to teach service-centered yoga, and traveling to the Navajo Nation and the South Bronx to learn about the world. The ideas are endless.
