Filipino Knife Fighting - with G**o Renato (Reny) Ramos - Pekiti Tirsia Kali

10/14/2026

As both a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Pekiti tirsia kali instructor, I’ve recognized how each can fill the gaps in each others techniques and principles.

You seldom find legitimate applicable knife defense while being a downed opponent. Both disciplines use angles for attacks or leverage, except one requires dynamic mobility and the other mobility is restricted or eliminated.

We fill that void with tested counter attacks to minimize damage, immobilize the attacker and remove their advantage.

WIN THE FIGHT - PTK SMF

A student purchased this Kris. Anyone recognize the makers mark? Supposedly pretty old. It is SHAAARP. Wondering if this was merely ceremonial or actually used in conflict resolution.

Theres a few blemished spots as of it met another edge then resharpened.

Ending our Chile trip with a meeting with the Philippine ambassador at the embassy in Santiago.

More to come for PTK SANTIAGO and a return visit is inevitable.

Fantastic day training the PTK-SMF CQC curriculum with our Chilean PTK brothers to the fine gentlemen of the Chilean Marine Corps. And a complete Honor and privilege to be gifted with this Challenge coin.

Santiago Chile

A bit late, but we had a great weekend of training. From out regular Tues/Friday classes at Cyclone BJJ and Combatives, to the CPI instructors camp and ending with a knife seminar on Sunday.

Big thanks to those who travelled from all across the US and to Tim for upholding the standard and pushing everyone to their best.
