MyCycle build/give Day One was a huge success. About half of the 265 bikes went out to PSD second and fifth graders at our Title 1 schools. The other half will be delivered tomorrow. There's still time to donate and volunteer if you're interested. Link in the bio.
Thanks to everyone that donated funds and their time and special thanks to Johnstown Scheels for helping with the bikes and helmets.

Loma Case Update: September 10th, 2026

A hearing was held this morning in the case involving the 2021 death of Fort Collins cyclist Luis “Darnell” Loma.

Prosecutors requested another extension while awaiting swab and other test results. The next disposition hearing is now scheduled for November 12th, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Courtroom 3A at the Larimer County Courthouse.

Prosecutors also requested staggered dismissal from the courtroom to minimize overlap between the Sierra and Loma families in the parking lot following previous “disparaging” remarks exchanged between the families.

Loma, 29, was killed on October 7th, 2021, while riding his bicycle in the 2200 block of North Shields Street. Investigators determined that a driver had struck him and left the scene. Evidence indicated the suspect vehicle was likely a gray 2009 or 2010 Toyota RAV4 or similar SUV.

In December 2025, investigators identified a primary suspect.

On April 18th, 2026, Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Nicholas Sierra of Loveland.

Sierra faces charges of:
• Failed to Remain at the Scene / Give Information / Aid After Accident Involving Death, a Class 3 felony

• Insurance Fraud, a Class 5 felony

Complete case information can be found on YGR.

Today's content is brought to you by former Lee's employee, Mike Weber - Fort Collins and Loveland Colorado Homes
Weber has lived in the Fort since he was six, has been riding mountain bikes in Northern Colorado since 1985, and has been selling homes here since 2002. He became a fan of the site when it was launched and became an advertiser shortly after. You'll recognize his name as a calm voice of reason and education on many of the local cycling forums offering trusted trail condition updates and well-thought-out etiquette tips. He's a former member of the Fort Collins Bicycle Advisory Committee, Fort Collins Natural Areas Land Conservation and Stewardship Advisory Board, a Larimer County Open Space Volunteer Ranger Assistant and is a Diamond Peaks Mountain Bike Patroller, and board member of the Overland Mountain Bike Association. If Fort Collins had a cycling hall of fame, Mike would be among the first to be inducted.

More good news out of Loveland.

After YGR pointed out to LPD and Loveland city officials that parking photo radar vehicles in bike lanes was neither legal nor safe (you guys know I love a good hill to die on), LPD confirmed that they will no longer stage speed enforcement vehicles in city bike lanes.

Shoutout to LPD traffic enforcement for taking the time to listen, review the statutes and safety goals, and quickly adjust their operational policy to keep cyclists safe.

Advocacy works.

Skyline & Dakota Ridge Update:

The opening of Loveland’s Skyline and Dakota Ridge trail system is looking like early October, assuming the remaining construction stays on schedule.

Marilyn Hilgenberg, Open Lands and Trails Manager for the City of Loveland, says crews are currently working on:

• Installing more than 200 signs throughout the trail system
• Completing the north trailhead and parking area
• Finishing required 43rd Street improvements

Hilgenberg noted there won't be a large grand opening, in an effort to limit impacts on the natural environment.

The project includes about 7.8 miles of trails, with roughly five miles of natural-surface singletrack.

Stay tuned to YGR for the exact opening date. More info on the trail system can be found linked in the comments.

Alright, alright, alright,

Less than a week to go until the MyCycle build days (Sept 10th and 11th) and we're looking pretty good!

Poudre Sunrise came out swingin', and is now in the lead! I feel like Corndoggies is pooling all their donations for a last-minute sneak-attack; seems like their style... Anyway, it's a pretty tight race for the top three spots Between Poudre, the Privateers (Individual donations) and Team B.O.B.. I don't really have a plan to get b**r to the Privateers if they win, so if one of you teams could be sure to take the top spot, that would be great. MMMMk?

Also, the online trash-talking has been a little on the weak side.

The great news: every single team is officially on the board, and we've topped $23,000!

Current Leaderboard:
*Poudre Sunrise Cyclists: $4,720 (19 donations)
*Individual: $4,530 (21 donations)
*Team BOB: $3,370 (23 donations)
*Breakaway Cycles: $2,290 (9 donations)
*Fort Collins Gravel People: $1,845 (13 donations)
*Fort Follies: $1,430 (8 donations)
*Horsetooth Cycling: $1,250 (1 donation)
*NCGR: $1,140 (6 donations)
*MiiFlo Cycling Team: $925 (4 donations)
*Rio: $450 (4 donations)
*Fort Collins Cycling Club: $430 (3 donations)
*Corn Doggies: $325 (2 donations)
*CSU: $280 (1 donation)
*Viral Racing: $280 (1 donation)
*Q***r Plus Bikes: $50 (1 donation)

Grand Total: $23,315 (116 donations)

Head over to YGR to donate, volunteer or to learn more about the program.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
