LAKE RECORD STRIPER!? While our guiding on Lake Mead today, I had something pretty incredible happen. My clients and I were fishing for bass, and all of a sudden I hooked into an absolutely massive Striper! For context, stripers this size were common on Lake Mead back in the 80's when the lake was stocked with rainbow trout, but to see a fish this size come out of Mead these days is practically unheard of!

This fish was caught on a Phenix M1 Medium spinning rod, a Daiwa Regal LT3000, using PowerPro 10lb braided line to a Sunline 8lb FC Sniper flourocarbon leader. The lure used was a Z-Man 3" Scented Jerk Shad paired with a VMC 3/16 oz Redline Jighead.

This fish took over 40 minutes to get to the boat, and almost spooled my reel 3 different times throughout the fight! As much as I don't wanna say it, the odds of me ever catching a striper bigger than this on Lake Mead are probably slim!
