International Masters Cricket World Cup events are now arriving almost as frequently as ICC major tournaments. Only a few months ago, the Men’s T20 World Cup was held in India, while the Women’s T20 World Cup is currently underway in England. Earlier this year, the IMC O50 World Cup took place in Sri Lanka, followed a few months later by the O70 World Cup in New Zealand. In about six weeks, Canada will host the O60 World Cup, immediately followed by the O40 World Cup in Guyana. By taking these prestigious events to different parts of the world, IMC is giving players the chance to experience diverse cultures, communities, and settings.
In January 2027, the IMC O50 World Cup will be held in Hyderabad, India, a city that has produced many celebrated names in world cricket. M. L. Jaisimha, Mohammad Azharuddin, and VVS Laxman all came from Hyderabad, a city long associated with batting artistry. Mithali Raj moved there at an early age and developed her skills in this cricket-loving city. Shivlal Yadav, Venkatapathy Raju, Arshad Ayub, and Pragyan Ojha also hailed from Hyderabad and went on to represent India with distinction.
Several Masters Cricket USA cricketers also have strong Hyderabad connections. Fazal Alam, captain of the MCUSA O50 team, is from Hyderabad and knows many of the city’s cricket venues well, having scored freely across its parks and grounds. Former O50 captain Parak Ananta is also from Hyderabad; in his U19 days, he was regarded as a promising young talent. Arun Vittala played his youth and senior cricket in Hyderabad, representing his university and Syndicate Bank with distinction. Ram Kishan played Ranji trophy for Andhra and also played for Rest of India where he earned a reputation as a formidable bowler and was on the shortlist to represent India.
Hyderabad, known as the “City of Pearls,” is renowned for its royal heritage, landmarks such as the iconic Charminar, and thriving technology hubs. The city is also celebrated for its aromatic Mughlai-Nizami cuisine and its growing influence in India’s film and IT sectors.
IMC could not have selected a more fitting venue for the next O50 World Cup. MCUSA extends its best wishes to all teams, participants, and administrators for a highly successful event. To mark the beginning of this exciting journey, MCUSA is pleased to announce its leadership group and management team for the O50 World Cup scheduled for January 2027.
