Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Gary moved to United States in April 2014. Having completed his Ph.D and looking to pursue a career in cancer research in the US, Gary began working at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. When he isn’t busy being a scientist, Gary eats, drinks and sleeps football. Playing 5 seasons for the 8-time National champions Dublin Rebels, Gary was a part of two championship winning teams in 2010 and 2011 as a wide receiver and punt/kick returner. He also represented the Irish American Football League with the Dublin Rebels in the 2012 Atlantic Cup in Holland, a European Club Competition between clubs from Ireland, Holland, Belgium and Luxemburg. Success with the Rebels subsequently opened doors to represent the Irish national team in both contact and flag football. In September 2013, Gary was selected to represent Ireland at the European Flag Football Championships in Ancona, Italy. Two weeks later, he was part of the coaching panel on the first ever U-20 Irish National Team as wide receivers coach, the Irish team defeated the Manitoba Falcons from Canada and made history in the process. Playing, coaching and following American football for a number of years, has allowed Gary to get a unique perspective on everything NFL, from the X’s and O’s to daily player transactions and everything in between.
